This was like reading a Chemistry textbook. Written in 1969, it was definitely dated, but more so than that it had very little of the Crichton excitement. I listened to the audio on double speed (thank goodness) and I think reading it would have been better because a lot of it could have been glazed over. i.e. there were a bunch of sequences of numbers read aloud, and scientific components of which I knew none, time sequencing as well. Just not great, not interesting, not well written.

Thanks for taking one for the team ;) ! I have only read one Chrichton, which didn't read like a textbook, but didn't leave me wanting more, either. I remember when this was popular as a movie, but as a kid neither me nor my friends were interested in seeing it. Nor did I ever watch it later.

I liked this story fine until the end. I thought the solution to the virus was a total copout. He built up the suspense and tension until it reached its peak, then it fell absolutely flat its conclusion. One of the most disappointing books I've ever read, especially after I enjoyed Sphere.
