EchoBaz(Unofficial World's Fastest Reader) | 16 comments I'm looking for sci-fi series where there's a TON of books written in the same universe by multiple authors. Stuff like Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance Shadowrun, and Pathfinder.

Please suggest both the series, and where to start within them.

Here's hopign that someone can suggest a good starting point for Fortotten Realms tonight.

You might enjoy the Honorverse series. The main line, consisting of 13 books, with another due out next year, are all written by David Weber and focus on Honor Harrington, who has been called a female Horatio Hornblower in space. There are four other related series -- Saganami Island (4 books), Wages of Sin (3 books), Stephanie Harrington (3 books), and Manticore Ascendant (3 books). These other series, which are written by Weber and other authors, all take place in the same universe but two of them run at the same time as the main series, with many of the same characters, and two of them take place at different eras. There are also at least six volumes of short stories, written by many different authors.

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, since it's definitely a series that needs to be read in sequence. But it's very popular, and I strongly recommend it.

EchoBaz(Unofficial World's Fastest Reader) | 16 comments First of all, you got the right idea with a series that long and by different authors. So thanks

That said, I don't like soldier main characters in my novels, sorry.

If you got anything else, please do suggest them.

Terrence (grnkrby) | 29 comments Astro Boy manga series (I think the original author being Tezuka) has the Pluto spin-off written by Urasawa.

PLUTO Naoki Urasawa x Ozamu Tezuka, Band 001 (Pluto, #1) by Naoki Urasawa
PLUTO: Naoki Urasawa x Ozamu Tezuka, Band 001

I'll try to think of some novels, but that's a bit tougher for me since I haven't read too too much scifi.

Ronnie (ronnieb) | 322 comments Give the Wild Cards series, edited by George R.R. Martin a try.

They're more alternate history than straight sci-fi, but I really recommend them.

You know what? you're right. Regardless of what my intentions are, I am coming off that way.

I apologize. I've stopped.
