I thought I would just start a separate thread for these instead of posting in the Audible thread. This months freebie from Tantor is Main Street by Sinclair Lewis https://tantor.com/main-street-sincla...

Thanks, I recently read It Can't Happen Here by Lewis, written in 1935, in which a showman becomes US president by pretending to be a populist and trashing the media.(Things go downhill form there.) It made me think I should reread some of his other books that I read very long ago.(I eventually figured out how to get the download into iTunes where it shows up as a series of "songs"- that kind of thing is why I stuck with cassettes so long and only use Audible for purchases.) But I'll do a lot for free stuff!
Thanks for sharing! I loved Main Street in print. His insights into various aspects of society are so spot on, even today.

Got it! Thanks!
This months freebie is War of the Worlds narrated by Simon Vance. I am big Simon Vance fan so I am going to snatch it up. https://tantor.com/the-war-of-the-wor...
Thanks for the reminder Heidi -- I had thought I already had this audiobook but it turns out I have Wells' The Time Machine instead.

Thank you! I always forget about these, so your notification is always appreciated.
I listened to this when it was free using my Echo, but this is such a delightful story and with another excellent narrator, I will enjoy this as well!
Does anyone know how to find this freebie each month? I've tried searching the Tantor site and Google but no luck finding this month's offering. Thanks!
I get them sent as an email because I previously bought things there Peg so I am not sure how to get on the email list - sorry!

I already have a different audiobook edition of this classic sci fi but I didn't like the narrator (Frederick Davidson) so now I am torn about whether to get this or not...

Awesome, thanks for this! I forgot to check. This has been on my Wishlist for a long time.
Joy wrote: "Is it only free for one day? It’s showing $21.99 for me."Hmmm.... it shows that price for me too now. Usually the book is free for the month.
I happened back to that page last night and now it is showing the 0.00 price. Odd. I need to create an account to download. Maybe tonight.

When you add free titles to your cart and then go to checkout, it recognizes that no payment is required and does not ask for credit card.
So you can "buy" the freebies each month and they will stay in your library and you can listen to them at your leisure.

No, you can download the mp3 and listen in the app of your choice.

Umm. I don’t know about Tantor, but I download every book I buy from Audible. And I listen to them with my app of choice, usually Bookmobile.
Wow, I always heard that you don't own the books you get from Audible in that you have to listen from their website. If that's not the case, I may rethink them.
Shirley wrote: "Wow, I always heard that you don't own the books you get from Audible in that you have to listen from their website. You can then put it on an mp3 player. I even can keep books that I later returned to Audible (though I generally delete them).

There is a technical issue with using Audible files in some players — the file format is DRMed, and some players gag on it. Fortunately, these days there are multiple free audioconversion apps that will break that protection and convert the files to mp3. That’s what I do most of the time.
Tantor is having a sale on all its thrillers. $6.99 / book. https://tantor.com/categories/fiction...
Quite a big selection, as usual with Tantor.
