Jamie | 2 comments The girl is the daughter of the spymaster of the country she's originally from(not where the book is set) but she ends up leaving the country on a boat by herself, and dyes her hair blue(don't remember why). She gets kidnapped by slaver and during her time before she was bought by a noble family in the country she was brought to, she gets her hair cut off and gets in fights try and avoid being bought as a bed warmer(she's pretty and messes up her face to avoid that fate, I thinks ends up breaking her nose). When she is bought her original job was to answer the door, but the family moved to another house, brought her with and she ends up doing odd jobs like sheparding. She eventually gains a loyalty to the house noblemen and so when they end up in danger due the the countries volitile politics( I think the royals are being rebelled against and the noble families are divided) she creates herself a spy network using what she's learned from her dad to gain information to protect the family. At one point she is sleeping in in of the family members rooms to protect them from an assassin, when the assassin comes she manages to kill him and the family afterwards is quite loyal to her as well. But she remains a slave because it allows her to be anonymous. The main char, a girl about 16 maybe, ends up meeting a god that occasionally talks to her(I think I remember somewhere that the God dislikes preists because he doesn't really want to be worshipped). Also she meets a crow that has the ability to turn human(I think the god gave him that ability) and he helps her to spy and gather information to protect the noble family that she is loyal to, they do eventually fall in love. Story is medieval fantasy type with humanoid gods and magic. There is a second book as well though I'm only looking for the first currently, any help is appreciated, thank you!
