I finished reading In the Secret Place of Thunder yesterday. At the beginning of the book, a main character uses binoculars - a pair of special glasses that make things in the distance look closer to conduct surveillance on a house. Even though the story was rather predictable, I enjoyed reading it.

Would anyone like to choose my next numbers for me?

First book that comes to mind is Barbara Seranella's No Offense Intended which perfectly fits mechanic, possibly measure, and also media but with a remote likelihood.
I am in the process of moving, so I will have to see if i've packed this one yet or if it is available at my library.

For the definitions: 49: 1, 14 & 24
#1 buttonhole - the hole in a piece of clothing that a button goes through in order to fasten two sides together
#14 cache - a hiding place for food or treasures
#24 calamity - an unfortunate event; a disaster

Originally I wanted to read Grave Danger by Rachel Grant but read a few days ago The Secret of Combe Castle (Cherringham, #14) by Matthew Costello instead. I went with the same defitnition and treasure hunt as main topic. The real reason behind this story was a secret treasure hunt.

My nest definitions: 147: 4, 11 & 17

JoAnne, your words from page 202 are:

#9 mesh - 1) a net-like material of cords or wires that interlock with spaces between them, like a screen 2) to blend; to intertwine
#19 metamorphic - changed in form
#24 meteorologist - a person who studies the weather

Those three words can take you in completely different directions!

I thought I would check Listopia for any hamster books. Only a couple :(
There are lots of mouse and rat books though.

My first thought seeing halfway and halve was a in-between-numbers book for a series. Too bad I just finished A Textbook Case (Lincoln Rhyme, #9.5) by Jeffery Deaver Lincoln Rhyme #9.5 & To Hatch a Thief (Movie Club Mysteries #1.5) by Zara Keane Movie Club Mysteries #1.5 though there're still some other I want to read. I'm not sure yet what I'll read but think I'll go for this option.
My first hamster thought was Rex - Stephanie Plum's pet :-) Perhaps I'll re-read one of my favorite books in the series we'll see :-)

If you need some ideas:

metamorphic - any character going through a big transformation - e.g. Mandela biography or many chick-lit books
meteorologist - a person who studies the weather - anything weather ralated in title or on cover

Kari, your new definitions are:

#8 tranquilizer - a sleeping pill; sedative
#17 transform - 1) to change form or appearance of something 2) to glorify
#25 transitive - when the action of a verb is done to somebody or something

(Because I didn't remember...) A clarification about transitive verbs: A transitive verb has two characteristics. First, it is an action verb, expressing a doable activity like kick, want, paint, write, eat, clean, etc. Second, it must have a direct object, something or someone who receives the action of the verb.

Examples:
Sylvia kicked Juan under the table. Kicked = transitive verb; Juan = direct object.
Joshua wants a smile from Leodine, his beautiful but serious lab partner. Wants = transitive verb; smile = direct object
Alicia wrote a love poem on a restaurant napkin. Wrote = transitive verb; poem = direct object.
Antonio eats lima beans drenched in brown gravy. Eats = transitive verb; lima beans = direct object.

Important note: When no direct object follows an action verb, the verb is intransitive.

*grin* This ends today's grammar lesson.

Kari, my first thought when I typed transform was a shifter book.
Your next words are:

#6 Braille - a system of writing for people who are blind using raised dots as letters and numbers to be read with the fingertips
#11 brass - 1) a yellow metal that is copper and zinc alloy 2) musical instruments, such as a trumpets, that are made out of metal and that give a loud sound when blown
#19 break - 1) an opening made when something is torn or broken 2) a pause; a rest; a time away from school or work 3) to cause to fall apart 4) to violate; to disobey

My favorite choice of those definitions is break. So many good options.
