Angela's Ashes is an excellent book! Just be mindful that it might take a chapter or two to get used to the writing style because McCourt writes like an Irish person sounds like. I would recommend looking up one of his interviews to hear his Limerick accent. (:

Dylan- noticed you're from Dublin! Of course you'd have no problems with an Irish accent haha I'm very curious to hear your perspective of the book when we get to it in our discussion. There has been some serious controversy over it.

Mel- Welcome to the group! If you like survival type stories, like you mentioned in the currently reading section, you'll enjoy Angela's Ashes. In many ways, it's all about survival with fleshed out characters struggling to overcome external/internal battles. (Didn't want to give too much away).

It is definitely the first in the series! It could arguably be called the only one in the series, since Philip K. Dick only wrote one book. You should definitely read it, it's interesting. But there are 3 others in the Blade Runner series, written by K.W. Jeter. I don't know if they are as good though.

Adriana (Mea), that is great advice to give regarding McCourt's "limerick" accent. Most of the time, when I read a book set in a country other than my home, I hear the narration and dialogue in that accent that someone from that country would use. (Of course, a person native to that country would say, "What accent?" haha) As close as I can match it from my humble knowledge, anyway. McCourt's style of writing-- just like he talks-- made the book all the better for me.
