Introduce Yourself!
Welcome everyone! I am excited to see our Book and Movie Group continue to grow and diversify! We all come from different places, yet we are brought together through good literature and their on screen adaptations. Isn’t technology incredible? (:
Please feel free to ADD me and other group members as well. This way we can get to know each other better and become a close knit community. Plus I love seeing what you’re reading so I can add new book titles to my ever growing “To Be Read” list!

I'm currently on book 6 of the Harry Potter series. I've some how managed to stay away from all the spoilers all these years and I hadn't seen the films either so watching each film after reading each book has been a lovely experience.
I like to read almost anything, especially if the book has a film/TV series based on it, so this group seems perfect for me! I look forward to reading with you guys :)

I used to read a lot as a kid. Dwindled down as a teenager as I dove more into sports and video games. During that time I read through all the Harry Potter books and loved watching the movie adaptations. That's what lead me to here. I prefer to watch the movies first then the books due to the books being better 9/10 times.
In the past couple years I've increasingly started reading again. I visited libraries more and remembered how much I loved books. Usually it's overwhelming. I just visited Powell's bookstore in Portland, Oregon. Wandered for hours! Just picked up "Dragon's Teeth" by Michael Crichton. I mainly read historical military, outdoor and ocean (scuba diving, whales, etc) nonfiction books. However, I like to mix it up with a good fictional book. Normally a well known classic or popular.

I read a lot of Fiction/Fantasy but I easily get into pretty much every book I start to read, so it`s not really a preferred genre more like a go-to genre...As for the movies, I do prefer historical ones, but again, I don`t really mind trying new things!

I'm Joy, new to the social aspect of Goodreads but trying to reach out to avid readers like myself. I recently pruned my shelves so I could start fresh, which is why they're practically barren right now.
I live in Canada and started my first semester of university this past winter! I'm still undeclared, but I plan to major in English and if my GPA remains high enough, enter into honours with a focus in creative writing. I love writing stories even more than I love reading them. :)
While fantasy and science-fiction are my favourite genres, I'm trying to branch out into all types. Presently, I'm on a Stephen King fix.
Looking forward to following everyone's reads. :)

Just like everyone else here, I am a huge bookworm. Above that I also enjoy doing sports, taking photos, hiking in our beautiful nature, travelling, cooking and learning new stuff - like for example languages.
My passion about reading started when I was 5 and teaching myself how to read. Since that I am reading books as often as possible. I also don't have a favourite genre, i'm pretty much open to any book that exists.
Again, I am glad to meet you all on goodreads!

My name is Claire Bassetti. I am currently finnishing my sophomore year of college. I am a communication major with a focus on advertising, marketing, and public relations! I also have a minor in Health Communication. As a college student-athlete my time is split between soccer, studies, reading, and occasionally watching the newest jersey shore or Greys Anatomy.
I currently am reading Still Alice which has been an amazing and emotional book. I love getting suggestions on books and wish my college had a book club. I'm glad I at least have an online platform like Goodreads to be able to share my love for reading.
Thanks!

Next to reading I love to watch movies and series, although I should do less of both and enjoy other activities I like, like dancing, photography, meeting with friends etc.
I have all of 2018 booked up where reads are concerned, so this year I'll probably only join if it coincides with a read I have planned (or if I can't resist lol).
Looking forward to meeting you all! Happy reading & watching!

Currently reading: Penance by Kanae Minato
Favourite book ever: Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

I am Rohit from Mumbai, India. I am 26 and I work as a Graphic Designer. My affair with movies started back in 2010 when I was in my first-year 'Bachelors in animation' class. I didn't watch Hollywood movies till then and my classmates would often chat about these films and I couldn't participate in the discussion because of lack of knowledge. This inspired me to start watching Hollywood films and then I became a big movie buff. I watched 100s of movies since then. I love almost all genres expect love stories.
I loved Robert Downey Jrs sherlock holmes movie so much that I started reading Sherlock Holmes books. I read all 9 books in 2012 and since then I became a reading fan as well. I hope to post much in this group and I am glad to find fellow movie lovers around.

My name is Dawn and I'm English.
I've loved both reading and watching the silver screen all my life, so joining a group that encompasses both at the same time seems ideal ;)

Hello Robin, welcome to our group. I am also in a similar situation like yours. I started reading in 2012 and read a lot of books in couple of years. I dont know what happened later, maybe movies, games and Tv shows made me lose interest in books. I didnt read a single book in the next 4 years, but now i am also finding some inspiration to read books and continue doing it.

I’m currently a PhD student studying biochemistry. My research focuses on studying vector-host interactions in vector insects. I have an MS in chemistry and a BS in biochem and in cell/molecular bio. I just recently moved to Virginia but am originally from California. I was born and raised in the SF Bay Area and lived in Northern California for 5 years.
My absolute favorite book genre is any kind of dystopian novel and I love YA books. I also generally enjoy fantasy, sci fi, mystery, suspense/thriller books. My movie preferences align with that just about exactly.
I’ve found it difficult lately to find time to dedicate to reading since I always feel like I could be doing something *more productive* in the sense that I have so many other things I really need to do that I don’t always feel like I can justify doing the things I want to do... for this reason I primarily “read” via audiobooks. I can justify it to myself more easily if I’m “reading” while I’m doing another task that doesn’t really use up a lot of brain power and I couldn’t do anything “more productive” in place of it - so I usually listen to my books while cooking, driving, traveling, or while performing mindless tasks in the lab or even as I lay in bed trying to fall asleep (although good books make that harder).
A weird thing about me: I make every effort to read the book (if it’s something I think I’ll want to read) before letting myself watch movie adaptations. This usually means I avoid movies I would probably love but i still think it’s worth the enjoyment of reading the book without the movie bias. I also hate re-reading books (for the most part) - as a child I got too bored since I knew what happened, but I can enjoy it now... I do still feel like my time is probably better spend enjoying something *new* though. I also hate continuing a book series if I don’t remember what happened in previous books (or reading/watching a series out of order- what kind of MONSTER would do that?!). All these weird quirks mean I usually put off reading an entire series until they are all out and then I don’t watch any associated movies/tv until it’s all been out for ages. This tends to really infuriate people around me (I didn’t complete the Harry Potter books/movies until recently - oops) but I just focus on what I will read/watch instead :)
Looking forward to future discussions!
Diane

Have your read Altered Carbon, it's a pretty fun read if you like dystopias and the Netflix series isn't too bad. Its got some holes, but it makes up for it in other ways.

I've really good things about the series but haven't really looked into it! I'm looking for my next book, so I'll definitely check that out! Thanks for the suggestion!
- Any thoughts on how it would be as an audiobook?

I look forward to meeting more of you all and all the discussions!

I like to read and talk about books. Right now, studying literature. New at Goodreads, hoping to learn something good.

I am from Austria and I graduated college a few months ago. I used to read a lot in high school and just started to read more books again.
I usually like to read Fantasy and YA novels but am generally open to almost everything. Currently, I am reading Ready Player One and so I might need a little time until I catch up with you, but can't wait to start discussing with you!
