I'll go ahead and start this off- So I'm Max! I'm 21 years old, and last month I graduated college with a Bachelor's in Communication and a minor in Sociology. Though originally from a small town in Washington State, I moved to Southern California to pursue my education and haven't looked back.
It was my second year at college when I met Adriana; we were introduced through a mutual friend, and immediately we hit it off. The rest is history! We both love learning and are both interested in a great many topics; from literature, philosophy and politics to music, science and pop culture. We have been able to use this mutual passion to help each other evolve and grow :)
I have loved reading books since before I can remember, though high school and college tried their best to make me hate it. That's why now we have decided to bring reading back into our lives in a big way! As for other hobbies, I also love drawing, writing, playing guitar, and watching great movies.
Through this book club I hope to expand my horizons, learning more about the world and the dizzying varieties of people in it. I also hope to find others who share this goal :)

Hi All! My name is Adriana and I am the second Mod for this group.
About Me: I am also a recent college graduate- I majored in International Business and Philosophy. I enjoy watching movies, journaling, taking polaroids, swimming, hiking, traveling, cooking, and hanging out with Max.
Sooo, lieke, y reading?!: Well, friends, my interest in reading started off when I was very young. As a kid, my dad loved taking me thrift shopping and as he'd look at knick knacks, I'd be glued to the book section. This resulted in my dad owning way too many knick knacks and me owning way too many books.
Alright, alright. Now what about the group?: Glad you asked! After Max and I graduated, we both felt it was very important to continue our personal growth - hence, MILLENNIAL BOOK CLUB (MBC)!!! Here are the (3) main reasons we started the MBC.
1. The obvious- to get back into reading! School can be a soul sucker and I want to take my education back into my own hands.
2. I'm hoping to grow and learn from a diverse group of individuals. So, feel free to comment and voice your opinions. Max and I are very open and enjoy getting to know people.
3. To spark interest in individuals who may not have picked up a book in a while (like us) and don't know what to read or where to start!
So, there you have it folks! Max and I have lots of cool content coming up- stay tuned!

It's great to hear from you both! Chloe, congrats on graduating! I'm with you there, the Magic Treehouse series was one of my favorites growing up. I think I read every single one of the books! We're excited about it too :)
And Dylan, congrats on graduating as well! What are you planning to do with your degree? I was almost a film student myself, movies are a passion of mine. We're definitely going to be reading both dystopian stories and classics :)

I understand that, I'm in a similar situation... I'm on the job hunt right now and I'm still figuring out what exactly I want to do. My degree was in communication, so there are many ways to take that!

Favorite book: Les Misérables
Currently reading: The Windfall
Can't wait to dive into new books with you all! :)

Nice to meet you Abbie and Tracy! :) I see that you both have labs, very jealous!! Love their names!
Abbie: Mea and I are definitely big on travel as well! I haven't read Les Mis yet, though I've seen a stage version before and was blown away by the Hugh Jackman movie that came out a few years ago! Did you see/like it?
Tracy: I definitely share your opinions on the criminal justice system in America :/ what are you doing for a career now? Also I've been wanting to read Battle Royale for years! I've heard that Hunger Games kind of ripped it off, is that true?

Hi Abbie! Welcome to the club (:
I love riding roller coasters! That's such a fun fact. What's your favorite amusement park/roller coaster?
Les Misérables- I haven't read it, but since I'm trying to learn French it would probably be a good choice.

Welcome, Tracy! A criminal justice major, who's turned against the system- that takes guts. I imagine it was difficult turning your back against something you're passionate for.
It looks like you're into action/suspense novels. We'll be reading a murder mystery novel "The Snowman" in the upcoming months, this book might be right up your alley.

I'd say my favorite coaster is either Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion, El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure, or Fury 325 at Carowinds! It's hard to say what my favorite park is but my "home" park is Dollywood so I'll go with that one.

a better understanding of it all. Books do provide me an escape into that medium. hate the fact my love for reading came quite late but nevertheless its here now, need to make the most out of it. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Thanks for letting me know about the group. Cheers

What do I like to read? I can read anything as long as it is absorbing. I read a lot of books and I'm proud of it.

My favorite hobbies are reading, running, and knitting. I'm not picky about what I read, but my favorite genres are literary and historical fiction. I'm excited to be a part of this book club and read new books!
Nice to meet you all. :)

Hi Karma! It's awesome that you have such a diverse reading palette! One my goals for the year is to read books that are sometimes out of my comfort zone to gain new perspectives.
I just got MoviePass too! Isn't it amazing? It's like a dream come true for movie nerds. (:

Yes!! I love MoviePass and all that it stands for lol. I've had it since October and have seen roughly 30 movies? I was able to accurately score my Oscar movies this year because I was able to watch all of them for the first time ever... I really hope they don't bust

I love reading books and then watching them on the big screen. Although I will admit, I have yet to find a movie that is better than the book. The Harry Potter series came close, but in the end, the book had to offer so much more than what the movie actually delivered. Also, I'm a Harry potter nerd.

I've always been a big movie buff but I only started reading books about 2 years ago (anything other than comic books that is).
Now that I've realized that books are awesome, I wish I'd have started reading them much sooner because there are so many great books and so little time to try and read them all.
I'm mostly a thriller/action fan but I'll read anything as long as it has a good story and good, fleshed out characters.

Welcome to the group, Marvin! I started reading for fun again after I graduated college. I was always so rushed with studying and assignments through college there never seemed to be enough time for leisure reading. Now I always make sure I have some good book time!

Now I'm tempted for our next week's ice breaker to be something along the lines of: "Pick an emoji that best describes you!" I just might do it....

I just looked up Jean Claude Van Damme and he looks awesome. I do love action packed martial arts movies. What's your favorite JCVD movie?

Hi Ella!
I read my first (2) Stephen King books this year! I recently finished IT and The first book in the Gunslinger series... I have no idea how I went so long without picking up a King book.
We're planning on adding the second book to our reading list as well. What Stephen King books have you read/movies have you watched?
I know we have some big SK friends in the group!
