Thank you J.B. for a review :) The problem with formatting is up to the Amazon, and I really do not know why this is not well done. In a paper book, everything is well formatted.

I stand corrected. Apparently, Amazon UK picked up my review of your book from the US site. Color me done.

If she cannot do so, she should be dropped from this review round. I request assistance in getting her to send me her book.

I was able to post the review of your novel to Amazon UK without problem. Apparently, with the other book, it scrapes the review from the US site. The issue is resolved.

As always, T.S. it is best to ask for email addresses for sending/receiving books via the direct/private messaging system on GR. This helps to avoid spammers etc. Thanks.

Hi Dawn, This group is in the "reviewing" phase of books already submitted. As there are limited numbers each time a group is set up it's best to wait until a new sign-up in your genre is announced. I suggest you read Emma's introduction in Message 1 of this stream for more info'.

T.S. please show a little more patience, bearing in mind that your review of Jennifer's book is not due until September 28 and there is no obligation to provide a Mobi copy - PDF or ePub are alternatives. I have contacted Jennifer and await her reply but people's lives do have a habit of interrupting one's plans after all. :-)

Hi T.S.
Thanks for your review of The War Between. Unfortunately there are several points throughout it which could be considered spoilers and so the author may prefer it to stay "hidden".

In any case I must ask you to remove the last section of the review from the words: "I also had to secure the book..." and onwards to the end. This is a personal comment and is not acceptable at all. Thanks.

The schedule of review assignments/deadlines is there to provide an order sequence which allows the members of the group to plan ahead if necessary. The reviews do not have to be done in that exact order, though it is helpful if most reviewers do stick to it. It is not necessary, or indeed relevant, to mention the order in your review of course - especially when posting it on Amazon. Such comments, particularly anything personally directed towards the author should be edited out of the review ASAP. Thanks.
G.J.

T.S. and J.B. I was concerned about your brief discussion regards passing on someone else's book without their permission, i.e. messages 59 and 60 above. As I suspected Emma does cover this in her introduction:
"International Copyright laws apply. You cannot sell, or give away material you have received without the author’s express permission."

It was very unwise to do this so publicly when you were warned. I'm not sure what happens next or the possible consequences. Watch this space?

J.B. Trepagnier (jbtrepagnier) G.J,
I Pm'ed you about the book in question

message 74: by J.B. (new)

J.B. Trepagnier (jbtrepagnier) It actually is against copyright to share another author's work without their permission, regardless of what review groups they are in. This is why I shared the book funnel link instead of the mobi copy that I downloaded from the link. At the time, I was under the impression that book funnel was like instafreebie, which I use, but I just looked up book funnels FAQ and their links are not public. Those links are meant to be shared by the author.

Jennifer, I apologize. I thought the book funnel link that you sent me was a public link that I could share with T.S and I see that it is not

message 75: by J.B. (new)

J.B. Trepagnier (jbtrepagnier) She may have implied permission by sending me a link that others could use to download her book and at my previous job, that would be enough to say that I had permission, however, Jennifer did not explicitly tell me I had permission to share that link. Book Funnel's TOS states that if your link is shared without your permission, you have the option to deactivate the link and start a new one. So implied/explicit has no meaning with book funnel's policy. If an author thinks the link has been shared without their permission, then book funnel backs them and gives them the option to change the link.

And in all fairness, the author's delay in getting you the book got an entire paragraph in your review. It looks more like a direct attack on the author than a critique on the actual book

message 76: by J.B. (new)

J.B. Trepagnier (jbtrepagnier) No, I've never taken the bar, however, I have a license and a job that requires working closely with attorneys and investigating, among other things, explicit vs implied permission, so no, Jennifer did not give explicit permission for anyone to share her book just by joining this group.

What you write in your reviews is your business, however, the mod of this group has already said something about this particular review and Amazon has it's own terms of service regarding reviews

I did notice Jennifer that the last paragraph of the review that had nothing to do with the content has been removed from the amazon.com review- but not the goodreads one...odd.

I am hoping that the dispute between T.S. and Jennifer is now at an end and that the use of personal comments in this message stream ceases immediately. We are here to assist authors in obtaining reviews. We are not the Amazon/GR review police! Please note:

GR review group moderators can only suggest someone alters their review in most cases and we certainly do not exercise powers over Amazon. So if you wish for comments to be removed from a review on Amazon you need to contact Amazon.

A reviewer may remove or change their comments but we do not suggest you contact them as they are under no obligation to change their honest opinion. They may click the GR "Hide" button if you request it. However, in general, if an author does not like a critique of their book it is best to try to learn from it and move on. There should certainly be no public carping and commenting on the group's message stream. It is unseemly and unprofessional. A polite "Thank you" is all that is expected here. Thanks.
Graham
