The Secret of Pembrooke Park is my favorite Julie Klassen novel!!

message 53: by Angie H (new)

Angie H | 40 comments oh wow! I really need to read that one! It has been sitting on my shelf FOREVER!

I have loved all her other novels, except for one, so I'm really quite surprised at myself that I haven't read it yet.

It was okay. I gave it two stars. I usually love Julie Klassen's novels and have given four or five stars to the other nine I've read. This was too dragged out and bored me at times. It took me a long time to get interested in it.

message 55: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1143 comments I'm actually with Alegna on this one. Two stars...had trouble connecting, and the language/action was too modern in a number of spots.

Which one was a miss for you, Angie?

message 56: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments I'm with Staci, I loved it as well. :)

The Apothecary's Daughter is probably my least favorite, even though I still enjoyed it.

I actually haven't read ALL of her novels, but the ones I have read I have enjoyed. The miss for me was Lady Maybe.

I am getting ready to read the Blue Castle as well!

message 59: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1143 comments The Apothecary's Daughter is the one I haven't gotten to. Lady Maybe was okay, but if it had been published for the Christian market, there were some issues I'd have downgraded it over.

The Apothecary's Daughter is my favorite Klassen book, and I haven't found one yet that I've disliked. I'm a bit behind on her new ones, though. Must catch up soon!

message 61: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments I guess technically I haven't read all of them either. I still haven't read her most recent release, which I want to do soon since the second book releases later this year.

Andrea my guess is that you probably wouldn't care for Lady Maybe. It was published in the general market, and while I still liked it, it's definitely not my favorite of her books.

My favorite is probably still Lady of Milkweed Manor, but it's been quite a while since I've read it. I did love The Painter's Daughter though.

I've heard that about Lady Maybe before. I've got a copy of it, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I'll be going in with an open yet informed mind.

Carolyn | 225 comments I guess, I might as well get another book off the shelf; The Secret of Pembrooke Park by Julie Klassen even if it at times boring, reading more then one novel at a time, takes the boredeom out of it when returning to it again. thanks for all opinions.

All except one of my GR friends enjoyed it, and most gave it five stars, so Hannah and I are definitely in the minority.

It's also my favorite. I gave it five stars. A close second is Lady Maybe by Julie Klassen , which possibly would be my favorite if not for the sensual material. I listened to it a second time immediately after finishing it the first time.

Angie H | 40 comments Christine wrote: "My favorite Julie Klassen novel is The Painter's Daughter by Julie Klassen. Great book!!!"

looks like another one I need to put high on my priority list.

So after looking at my list, I have realized I have read very few of her books compared to how many books she has published.
I've only read
The Maid of Fairbourne Hall by Julie Klassen , The Tutor's Daughter by Julie Klassen , The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen , The Girl in the Gatehouse by Julie Klassen , Lady Maybe by Julie Klassen

really need to change that.....

Joy (audioaddict1234) Listening to Truth Stained Lies by Terri Blackstock. It's on audio cd somI can only listen in the car. I saw the latest in this series on one of the award lists so I thought I should start with this one that I got at a library sale.

I find myself spending extra time in the car bc I need to know what's going to happen next. Very suspenseful.

You're welcome. Girl, you won't regret adding it to your purchase list as it's a fantastic story! Pre-orders really help authors out too, and I think they don't get charged to your account until the book ships (but I'm not 100% sure on that last part).
