What I appreciate about their slowly budding relationship is the fact that while both deal with barriers (pride, and of course, prejudice) to forming a relationship, an ongoing conversation exists between them. They get acquainted on an intellectual level long before there is romantic attraction (at least for one of them ;)). They discover and come to admire one another's character long before being overcome by passion, and I find the attraction of a person's character refreshing today. There is a sense of stability in a relationship formed on more than physical attraction. Of course the fact that Darcy can't help but propose marriage to her in spite of deep reservations about her familial circumstances is, after the shock of the insult, rather endearing. (less)

I dreamt of a man leaning on a cane watching a woman walk out the door and knew he didn't want her to leave but he couldn't stop her. I think he said he was watching his heart walk out that door. I woke instantly intrigued and had to explore what storyline he and the woman might have, and The Memoir of Johnny Devine was born.(less)

How Far Can Love Bend Before it Breaks?

What do you think when you hear this quote from Shakespeare's Sonnet 116? Aside from picturing the scene with Kate Winslet in Sense and Sensibility... What lengths can love be tested before it gives out? Is there such a thing as Love No Matter What? This is a question Josie asks more than once in The Secret Place. I hope you'll join her on the journey of discovering the answer to this question Read more of this blog post »

Camille Eide "Comfort & Joy
I won’t be any trouble,” I say. Suddenly I’m scared. If I leave here, I’ll go home. I know me. I’ve never handled obstacles particularly well, and I don’t want to go home yet. Stacey will be waiting for me; I’ll have to deal with the wedding and the baby and my broken heart.

“Just a few days. Please? I need a vacation.”

“She’s stayin’,” Bobby says defiantly, looking at his father.
The man looks at his son, and in the glance that goes between them, I see a pair of people who’ve lost their way together.

“Tell her not to expect anything from me. I’m too busy to play host.”

I feel a surge of gratitude. Every runaway needs a break, and this stranger has given it to me. I can stay here—hide out—for a while, just long enough to catch my breath and gather my courage for the next round of real life.

Hannah, Kristin. Comfort & Joy . Random House Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.

(Loving this so far!)
