I have to say, you do sound like a troll. You don't answer any questions but continually put others down because they don't agree with you and all they are asking for is proof that your so called god exists, which you obviously can't prove since one does not exist.

Whenever I get to watch 'real' TV I nearly always end up watching the Food network or discovery or some channel like that.
Most regular Tv doesn't grab me.

message 6205: by Shanna (new) - rated it 3 stars

Shanna Food network is good, my four year old likes cooking shows too (don't ask I don't know, but then he also likes RPA a reality show in a hospital which show operations and real patients, I'm glad I'm a nurse and can explain, age appropriate of course, most of what is going on, he's facinated (a future doctor?))

Discovery, history channel, nat geo....

message 6206: by Drew (new) - rated it 1 star

Drew I'm a fan of "Breaking Bad", "The Walking Dead", "Weeds", "Supernatural", and "The Mentalist", that's about as far as my tv watching goes. Give me a book or movie any day.

message 6207: by Shanna (last edited Aug 20, 2012 07:04PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Shanna The Mentalist and Supernatural though I'd posit some of my reasons might be different to yours... or perhaps not.
The others my husband has on dvd and I will get to them some day,
Dexter and True Blood are other faves, I also love Top Chef

You got a crush on Dean, Sam, and Patrick? ;)

message 6209: by Shanna (new) - rated it 3 stars

Shanna Simon Baker is, I don't know how to put it, dreamy :P Which is actually odd, I don't usually go for blondes.

Dean and Sam are nice eye candy, and the show entertaining, and the smartassery appeals to me.

message 6210: by Hazel (last edited Aug 21, 2012 03:31AM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Hazel You think Simon Baker is dreamy, yet reject Home and Away... where he started ;P

No, you're right, Home and Away is a big pile of shite.

message 6211: by Shanna (last edited Aug 21, 2012 03:52AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Shanna Yep am I cherry pickin' Simon?

Wasn't he E-street? I can't bring myself to watch either, Simon or not.
Yeah we all gotta start somewhere....

message 6212: by Shanna (new) - rated it 3 stars

Shanna Nope you're right Home and Away... see almost total ignorance of our soapies

message 6213: by Hazel (new) - rated it 2 stars

Hazel only reason I know is because they're having this home and away marathon on the same channel as the mentalist is on, and its all the "favourite episodes as voted for by you", and the advert is always on during a break in the mentalist, and he's in the advert. I refused to believe it at first, but had to accept the evidence in the end.

Now, this is trolling and you do quite a bit of it, this page is full of it.

Drew wrote: and all they are asking for is proof that your so called god exists, which you obviously can't prove since one does not exist.

That comment has an obvious flaw in it. So maybe Gary, Hazel or Cerebus would like to point it out to you. But I guess they won't do that because it may look as if they are agreeing with me.

Nope, you tried this last time.....the whole "it's up to you to find it". Didn't work then, doesn't work now, it's still trolling.

cHriS/cs wrote: "Now, this is trolling and you do quite a bit of it, this page is full of it."
You don't understand what trolling is if you think off-topic tangents are trolling. Your obvious attempts to stir rather than engage are examples of trolling.

cHriS/cs wrote: "That comment has an obvious flaw in it. So maybe Gary, Hazel or Cerebus would like to point it out to you. But I guess they won't do that because it may look as if they are agreeing with me. "
This is why you are a troll, rather than engage in the discussion, point out where you think there is a flaw and follow up with evidence if necessary, you choose to cast aspersions and try to provoke people. If you want to stop being a troll, disagree with Drew's point, explain why you disagree and be prepared to defend your opinion.

i don't know how exactly the discussion subject shifted suddenly to hot guys on tv shows because there are so many comments on this discussion and i don't have time to read them all, but i do agree. sam and dean's good looks, especially DEAN's, they add a really great satifying touch on supernatural. but most of the time i find too much fantasy in the series to make it look believable and presentable, at least while rolling..so i don't watch it anymore..

Yes it does looking like trolling, as does your 'home and away' comments.

You give me one example of my trolling and to help this is how wiki define it....

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion

See if you can give an example before Hazel wakes up.

message 6236: by Shanna (last edited Aug 22, 2012 04:34AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Shanna What was "[1]"? did you leave that out so it didn't highlight your trolling

You lack the necessary component in "intent of provoking and emotional response". We were merely conversing.
What disruption? no one at that point was discussing on topic (we had gone off in a consensual, of the people actually posting in that period, tangent) and when the on topic conversation resumed the tangental conversation stopped.
The fact that your still complaining about it meets all the requirements
1)off topic
2)primary intent of provoking an emotional response
3)and otherwise disrupting on topic discussion
4)evasiveness
5)ignoring questions posed

Thats not an example. That is defining your interpretation of the wiki artical. Going off topic in many forums is a form of trolling.

Maybe because this site is not moderated then anything goes. If that is the case then no one has the right to pick and choose what is trolling and what is not. If you and others think I am trolling(and you still have not given an example, but Hazel will I'm sure)then my previous comment about the three guardians of this thread although said some what tongue in cheek, seems to hold water.

I would take Cerebus comments about me with a pinch of salt. He said something to me a while back that was 'out of order' even on this site, so I refused to reply to his comments.

Since then he have taken every opertunity to provoke me into a responce. Using the word troll, which he does in almost every comment about me is his way of trying to rattle my cage. Sad but true.

Well Shanna just gave you examples but you also just proved it yourself by saying that you know Hazel WILL give us examples. You also gave an example yourself as well, the part about the three guardians of the thread, that was a comment meant to provoke and emotional response, disrupt the topic at hand, and evades the questions posed to you.

What topic was disrupted?
Could you repete the question you want answered and I will answered it for you.

message 6248: by Sarah (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sarah Turner I think some of the wrong questions are being asked here: 'why was it me who was bitten by a dog?' Why do things happen to anyone? Why did I get waved to this morning? Why did a fly land on my arm? It's simple cause and effect, the negative nature of the event doesn't change this. As for babies having distinct personalities; this is partly attributed to us pushing a personality upon things- we do this with animals too. We read into and humanise behaviour. But this is also because we all are a combination of our upbringing- or in a baby's case, the experiences that have befallen them so far- and individual genetic makeup which give us a disposition to act and react to things in a certain way. I fail to see how individuality in human beings cannot be explained by science...
The main question seems to presuppose that without religion and just science we would have a metaphorically soulless, cold society. It is important to remember that not just religion offers guidance and an insight into life. What about philosophy?? What about critical thought? These practises were in place way before organised religion, borne out of a natural curiosity to understand the world around us and to live as ethically as possible. Please do not make the mistake of thinking that these are pursuits that belong to religion alone. Crucially these allow for human beings to exercise their own reasoning when dealing with issues of morality or reality, rather than simply following doctrine.

I don't think that the majority of Christians (for example) think like that. It seems to be a perception that non religious folk have of them.
