Thanks! Okay, I'll remember that. It's interesting that the Victorian translations edited out some of it- it makes sense, once I think about it. ;)

Don't! I only just finished my non-fic. :)

And I've only just started my indie!
I just finished "Cyrano de Bergerac", and I've begun to read To Kill A Mockingbird. I also changed the nonfiction book I'm reading to "The Making of the African Queen" by Katharine Hepburn.

My favorite is either 1 or 8. I don't know which!

FINISHED:
- A classic: The Thin Man
- A fantasy\sci-fi: Hammerhead
- A contemporary: Asking for Trouble
- An indie-published: Suit and Suitability
- A non-fiction: Keep a Quiet Heart
- 1901 to 2000: The Illusionist's Apprentice

I finished my non-fic, and will be starting my 1901-2000 as soon as I can get to the library to get it. ;)

Wow, congratulations!! :D *Is secretly mad because I didn't beat you* :P I just finished my 1800's book last night.

Wow, Emily!!

Oooh, yay! Did you like it?? :)
Oooh, yay! Did you like it?? :)

Yay! I liked it too. :)
Soooo, I actually did manage to find a non-fiction: "Fierce Convictions: The Extraordinary Life of Hannah More--Poet, Reformer, Abolitionist" and will be reading that on audio. Then, after I finish reading the other book I'm in the middle of now, I'll do the third Anne of Green Gables book for the 1901-2000 book. And by the time I finish that, the challenge will probably be over, but at least I'll have squeezed in two more books. ;)

Oh that sounds interesting. I will be looking forward to your review. I've been reading her poetry over the past several months for an audio poetry project I produce so I'll be interested to see if that book is worth picking up.

Congratulations, Emily!!!!!

I'm using some shorter stuff...I am so far behind!!

Classic: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (done)
Fantasy: The Midsummer Captives (done)
Contemporary: Deadly Hunt (done)
Indie: Um... I think it was The Notes in Our Hearts (done)
Non-fiction: Hiding in the Light (done)
1900's: Jerusalem Interlude (done)
1800's: Five Little Peppers and How They Grew (done)
1700's: Time Enough for Drums (done)
1600's: The Pilgrim's Progress
1500's: The Prince and the Pauper

I liked it pretty well. It was childish, but well, it's a children's book. ;) I know I would've liked it better when I was younger.

Ah, okay. My sisters and I read the series growing up, so there's a lot of nostalgia, which is probably why I like them so much. ;)

Same, Sarah Grace. My mom read that series out loud to my and my younger sister at night before bed when we were just little. #childhoodmemories
I just finished To Kill A Mockingbird, and I'm beginning to read The Making of The African Queen, which is for the nonfiction category. :-)

Sure, I'd count that. :)
Sure, I'd count that. :)

Classic: To Kill a Mockingbird (Read)
Fantasy\sci-fi: Crossroads by Paul Willis (Read)
Contemporary: Wedding Designed by Email... KiirstiAan's Nightmare? by Sheila Holmes (currently reading)
Indie: Ha! I have so many books to fit this category. (I've already read a bunch lately, actually, but they don't count because I didn't finish my contemporary.)
Non-fiction: Twelve Greeks and Romans and How They Changed the World (Read)
A book set between the years 2000 and 1901: Again, I've read a ton of books in this category before I finished my nonfiction. I'll find something.
A book set between the years 1801 and 1900: A Cowboy Unmatched by Karen Witemeyer (Read)
A book set between the years 1701 and 1800: Reb and the Redcoats by Constance Savery
A book set between the years 1601 and 1700: The Huguenot Garden by Douglas M. Jones, III
A book set between the years 1501 and 1600: I don't know. Recommendations anyone?
REBBBBBBBBBBB!!!! You haven't read it yet!?!?!?! O:O So amazing! I think it's my favorite Constance Savory, even though I love Enemy Brothers too.
For the last category, how about the Crown and Covenant series by Douglas Bond? Or something Shakespeare? :)

I hate how libraries have a "pick up by this date" thing. I keep missing the date, cause life is so crazy, and my books have been sent back 4 or 5 times! *facepalm* Ugh! They are the only reason I haven't completed at least two more books for the challenge. :P

Oh, I've read it, Sarah Grace, but I'm ordering it for my younger sister, a recent CS fan convert, to read, and I'm planning on re-reading it myself.
And I have read the Crown and Covenant series, a long time ago when I was 10 or 12. I wasn't a big fan of them at the time. I'd read something Shakspeare, for sure. Which of his works are set then? I'm trying to think of one...
I might read one of G.A.Henty's books for that category. My mom is always trying to get me to read on of his books.

Oh, I know! But, my local librarians are so sweet that they never send them back on me. They'll get around it some how, whether it means sending the book home with an older sibling to give to me or somehow. (I don't let that happen very much though because I don't want to take advange of how nice they are.)
Morgan wrote: "Well, they can't stay on the holds shelf forever, especially if there are other holds on the book. My system keeps them on the holds shelf for up to five days, though my branch is somewhat flexible..."
Yeah, I know the reasoning, but it's still annoying. :P I think mine will hold them for a week to two weeks, if there isn't any holds on it.

Aw, that's nice! I'm basically the only one who goes to the library, so that wouldn't work. :P My librarians are really sweet too. One of them knows my family.

I second JD's Dumas suggestions- The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers are two of my favorite books. BUT, I want to warn you that there are multiple translations of the books and some of the more modern translations are for a mature audience, just so you know. :) The Victorian translations naturally left out some of the sexual-related content.
