Some great choices Mary!! And I'm so glad you decided to do it! I thought about using Bound for my contemporary too, but decided to go with something new. :-)

Haha, thanks, Dessa! I have a beautiful personally signed copy of the first book that I got to look back at to refresh my memory. It had been a while between the two books....

Fantasy, Contemporary and 1801-1900 are all completed.
Classic: To Kill a Mockingbird
1901-2000: The Shallow Graves (currently reading)
1701-1800: Duels and Deception
1501-1600: The Kindling
As for the indie, non-fic and 1601-1700, I'm not sure and would definitely welcome recommendations!
Finished the first four categories and am going to start by non-fic soon. I also created a "shelf" labeled "2017 Summer Reading Challenge" to keep all the books I am reading for the challenge in one place for easy reference. You can see that here:

I'm really enjoying this challenge even though I don't actually have as much time to read as I'd like.

Nope! That's totally fine! :)

Finished my contemporary and on to the indie read. I can't wait to start getting to the historical ones. . . I need to spend some time with my "old" friends. :D

Lisa, it's perfectly okay as long as your fantasy and classic are two separate books - and The Hobbit doesn't count for both. I love that book!! Enjoy!

I love that book! If you're looking for a contemporary spin on the book, you should check out Dear Mr. Knightly by Katherine Raey. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... I really loved that novel as well.
Awesome girls! I *gulp* should be working on my non-fiction as well . . . but then I decided I REALLY have to read the Resistance series by Jaye Knight before the next book comes out . . . so I'm reading those instead. LOL!

I actually liked Dear Mr. Knightley much better because it didn't have the weird worldview issues the original did! That really was a fun book.

You read that then, already, Hannah. I actually read Dear Mr. Knightly before Dear Daddy-Long-Legs too. :)

I totally get that, Sarah Grace. If I had more time, I'd probably do the same thing. It's been a long time since I read Samara's Peril, and I can only hope that I'll still remember all the characters for Exiles.

Yeah, that's why I'm reading the rest of the series again. I honestly have NO CLUE what happened in the previous books. I would be too confused going into Exiles. It's been over a year since I last read them.

I updated my original post to show that I completed a book, and I found a book that takes place in the 1600s. :-)
I also need some advice/help. Until this challenge, I never realized how much historical fiction and fantasy I read, so I am have having a difficult time figuring out what contemporary book to read for the challenge. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat, Ekaterina. I read a lot of fantasy and historical fiction. I barely read any contemporary books. But a really good one is The Ankulen by Kendra E. Ardnek. It's contemporary, but the majority of it takes place inside the main character's imagination. The plot line sounds a little cheesy, but it's actually super well-done and has a great theme.
Contemporary? Comin' right up! ;)
Through the Fire
Dandelion Dust
Diamond
Symphony of Secrets
The Secret Life of Becky Miller
Last but not least, my favorite book of all time: At Home in Mitford
Hope one of those will work, and if not, let me know and I'll find some more. ;)

And, yay! Kate Willis! I haven't read Enjoy the Poodle Skirt, yet, but it's on my to-read list. I beta read The Twin Arrows for her, and that was so much fun!
