Trixie | 93 comments I read this in about 1983 or 1984. I say it was a children's novel because it was in my school library, and the grades only went up to 6th. But it seemed a kind of gloomy novel for a child...it was definitely about children even if it wasn't written for them.

The book is about twins, around the age of 9--11, I think in Scandinavia someplace, Sweden or Norway. I believe they are identical, but one is a little more popular or bubbly...anyway when one of them dies, the other one briefly considers taking over her twin's identity. She thought of telling them, "I am Inge, Else is dead."

I'm not 100% sure about the name Else. I'm fairly certain one of them was named Inge, but Else may not have been the other twin's name. The other name may have begun with an "F." Or it could be something else entirely.

No cover information.
