Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 617 comments Connie my pick for you: At Bluebonnet Lake (Texas Crossroads, #1) by Amanda Cabot - it was the first one that grabbed my attention :-)

I finished my book: Web of Deceit (Agents Under Fire) by Susan Sleeman and I loved it so much I read it within one day (8/30) - 5*

My next five are:
When a Secret Kills (Deadly Reunions, #3) by Lynette Eason Rumble on the Bayou by Jana Deleon Once Upon a Prince by Rachel Hauck Betrayal by Tim Tigner The Burning Wire by Jeffery Deaver

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) @ Connie -- that color is exactly what made the cover get me as well -- plus purple is the color of the month in another group so Groovy!!

@Agnieszka -- the fourth book in the Jack Daniels series was a lot less graphic than the third. You might be ok continuing this series.

@ Agnieszka: I pick Once Upon a Prince (Royal Wedding, #1) by Rachel Hauck for you -- all that lovely cream and lace in the cover!

My next five:

Deader Homes and Gardens (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries, #4) by Angie Fox The Tea Rose (The Tea Rose, #1) by Jennifer Donnelly Fuzzy Navel (Jack Daniels Mystery, #5) by J.A. Konrath For Whom the Bluebell Tolls (Bridal Bouquet Shop Mystery #2) by Beverly Allen Dark, Witch & Creamy (Bewitched by Chocolate #1) by H.Y. Hanna

Connie N. | 3775 comments I'm going to make another pick so I have a book in reserve for the lull periods when no books are chosen:

Jennifer, for you I pick Deader Homes and Gardens (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries, #4) by Angie Fox because my eye has been drawn to it the last few times you posted your choices. Love the dark background contrasted with the bright title color.

That's a great idea Connie! Since I plan to start/read my book this week I'll do it the same way :-)

My pick for you Connie is: To Have and to Hold (The Wedding Belles, #1) by Lauren Layne - it's such an interesting cover I love the perspective - how do you call it in English? Is it bird's eye view?

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I like the backup pick thing. So far i've read five books for this challenge and have five i'm still working on including Connie's above -- that's why i like that cover too, Connie. A nice little pick list! Let's make it six.

Agnieszka, i pick The Storyteller of Inis Mor Could a Legend Save His Life? by Brian O'Raleigh for you because what an intriguing cover!

My next five: The Tea Rose (The Tea Rose, #1) by Jennifer Donnelly Fuzzy Navel (Jack Daniels Mystery, #5) by J.A. Wow, 5 open books for this challenge, Jennifer? I thought I was being proactive by having 2. So I guess I'd better have another one ready to go...

Jennifer, I'll pick Fuzzy Navel (Jack Daniels Mystery, #5) by J.A. Konrath since you picked an alcoholic cover for me too. Hey, maybe we can meet at a bar and read our boozy books together!

I'm in the mood for a hot-guy cover, so here are my next choices:
The Goal (Off-Campus, #4) by Elle Kennedy Giving It All (Naked Men, #3) by Christi Barth Almost Forever (Austin Heroes #2) by Kathy Clark Serena's Plight (Goddess of Ivy #1) by Carol Madison Cancun (Bad Boys on the Beach, #1) by Kimberly Fox

You might be happier skipping that and going to the fourth book. It was too much for me and I work in 911 for god's sake. :-)

Are there any spoilers in book 4 regarding Rusty Nail?

message 71: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Nah not really. You could read it after two and there's enough past detail re relationships etc to get you caught up

message 72: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 617 comments I finished Once Upon a Prince by Rachel Hauck - what a great book! Thank you for the pick.

Connie, the next one for you is: Almost Forever (Austin Heroes #2) by Kathy Clark - looks like chocolate and who doesn't love it ;-)

message 82: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) For whatever reason I don't always get my "immediate emails" on some of these discussions. GRRRR Yes, this goes on and yes I'll host! I missed six updates!!! Now -- someone pick for me and let's get this reading year going!

message 83: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I'm reposting my last five because they're starting to get buried and I've also read a couple of them:

My next five:

yeeeees.. and I would start it IMMEDIATELY if it would just have an ice-cream or a tiger on the cover, or be a series #11, or if the MC would speak a language I don't know, or if it would have the word "catacomb" somewhere in its text, or if its title would start with an U.... it's really not my fault that this book is so very unhelpful and inconsiderate!

message 87: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Blahahahahahahaha Rosa!!!

message 88: by [deleted user] (new)

ok. my book STILL doesn't fit anything I would need but I finally started reading it because I couldn't stand seeing my task here unfinished any longer, lol.

Hopefully it will turn out to be a good read, at least :D

And maybe your next pick will fit half a dozen other challenges! :)

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

Jennifer, you can bet for my next five I will only choose books I can use someway or the other, lol!

message 91: by [deleted user] (new)

I've finally, FINALLY finished my book

Picking Lemons by J.T. Toman

What a nice cover for such a booooooring book. It's less than 200 pages but it felt like reading a door-stopper. So dull, flat characters and I could guess the solution to the murders early, a thing I'm usually not good at.

I had the next in series on my kindle as well but deleted it instantly. Very glad I'm done and over with it!

message 92: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 03, 2018 12:37AM) (new)

Jennifer, I choose East of the Sun by Julia Gregson for you, because I love peacocks.

In case you've already read it my second pick would have been Forbidden Places by Penny Vincenzi

my next picks:

Going Down and Man Candy (Wish Upon A Stud #1-2) by Elise Sax Murder In The Neighborhood by Janis Lane Burned in Broken Hearts Junction (Cozy Matchmaker Mystery #1) by Meg Muldoon You & Me Forever A Sweet Romance Collection by Megan Linski Chasing Daybreak (The Dark of Night, #1) by Ranae Glass

a) Well, i'm glad you got that ruled out so that you don't have to worry with it any longer!
b) i actually read that about two weeks ago for a challenge and I recommend it to you, peacock and all!!! I'll stick the Vincenzi in the queue for this month. Did you know she died yesterday? I love her books so that was not good news...
C: For Rosa I pick Burned in Broken Hearts Junction (Cozy Matchmaker Mystery #1) by Meg Muldoon -- looks good and I love that violet color!

My next five:
The Blue Rose (A Catherine Jewell Mystery, #1) by Gloria Alden The Secret, Book and Scone Society by Ellery Adams For Whom the Bluebell Tolls (Bridal Bouquet Shop Mystery #2) by Beverly Allen Murder at Ochre Court (Gilded Newport Mysteries #6) by Alyssa Maxwell Tiny Little Thing (Schuyler Sisters #2) by Beatriz Williams

Sorry Jennifer! How embarassing.. my family keep telling me things I'm sure I've heard for the very first time with: we've told you before!!! And now it happens with written stuff, too! I'm not yet forty, how can this happen?! I'm going to check it out now, because, peacock!!!!, you know 😄

Edit: I still love the cover, but not even a peacock will make me read historical fiction.. but thank you for recomending... twice! :D

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Well, i know how you feel. I wouldn't read science fiction if you put a gun to my head. Just not my thing! :)
