PIFM - Chat/Banter Review Your July Read

Thank you Aesaan, it's very interesting.

You are not the only one :-)

I'm not sure if you missed my list or just didn't find anything you like on it. I would appreciate your votes, but don't feel forced to do so. Perhaps you can even help with the tie and if not I'll try to read both books.

Congratulations, what a great way to get married :)

(Sorry - I don't think I helped with your tie)

I was very impressed with Niagara Falls. We traveled up in the glass enclosed elevator....although my sister-in-law turned her back to the view. She suffered from a case of vertigo.

Anyway, it was way ahead in the voting so hope no one minds.
It was a quick read, which for me, is not always a good sign with a book. However - it was a really good one - just like you all said.

No worries - I know summer time is for some people off-line-time and we are only half way through the month so far :-)

I love technology and cyber-thrillers so much and have quite a bunch of those - another one I'm looking forward to read is: The God's Eye View and hope I can concentrate better the next few weeks and read a little more again and hopefully come to this soon.
No worries about the tie - I want to read all of the books from my list as soon as I can so I'll just decide on my mood between these two or start both at the same time.
I just got another one for free :-)

I'm glad you liked Silent Scream - there are another four or five in the series you can enjoy ;-)

And you're welcome Agnieszka, I wasn't actually looking to break the tie however, Cold Hearted caught my attention :-)
For me it's obviously, Mystic River. I have not watched the movie yet... and I have not even read the synopsis... hoping to be thrilled ☺

My vote for Sue is:
The Strangers by Harlan Coben

Ended up in the operating theatre and they put in a metal plate, then I stayed overnight at hospital so I could have morphine :(
The pain was terrible and I've been feeling v. sorry for myself :(
I'm home now and can't swim, can't drive, can hardly get dressed etc...
My spirits are coming back today and I'm thinking what I can do -
lots of reading (!)
and lots of writing (!) - I'm halfway through writing my second crime/suspense/thriller and, who knows, with weeks of inactivity ahead of me, I might finish it over the summer

It was a bad one, though I have nothing but praise for the ambulance crew and the operating theatre team - they were all so nice.

Take care and let it heal properly.
I hope you feel better soon. (And read LOTS of good books to take your mind off it)

Good luck with the writing, I'd like to check out your first one. I always see it in the Giveaways :)

I had a bus accident last year where I broke by tooth and damaged few... I get a terrible feeling everytime I have to travel by bus, and I do tht daily...

I hope your weather in France isn't that hot as in Germany (today 35°C tomorrow planned 37°C) or you have a possibility to stay somewhre cool. I know how it is if you have to deal with such heat shortly after an surgery - not very fun.

I don't know how to convert that into celsius.

What part of Eastern Washington? My sister used to live in Moscow Idaho. That wheat country in Washington is beautiful.

We were told that anyone who has stayed in a hotel or motel carries them in their clothes and are nice enough to leave them on the furniture of those they visit. Geez!

We usually get an infestation of something every year. One year it was army worms, we had to wear shoes in the basement all summer. Nothing's worse than walking barefoot on army worms - gross!

We have friends who have a baby and are not enthused about fogging. They find the little buggers climbing their walls. Until this year, I couldn't have identified a bed bug. I've not seen one before.

Hey Dana - when I was in the ambulance I decided I'd never go rollerblading again but I enjoy it so much I think I've changed my mind - I'll let you know in a few months time...

Agnieszka - we have a sea breeze from the Mediterranean most afternoons, so I guess that makes it more bearable.

according to google -
120Farenheit = 48celcius (wow that's HOT)
85Farenheit =29 celcius

Gosh - your sash window experience sounds dreadful and you're right that extreme pain can close down the mind and body very effectively.
Amazing you went to work afterwards.
In fact, I don't really remember how I got back to my car, nor how I managed to get my phone out the boot. It was 8am on Sunday morning and I was at a lovely cycle path in the woods that's busy later in the day but isolated early on - so no one was yet around to help.
(I've been doing it for 3 years and I've fallen before but never like that.)
Still, that's life....

I love to read Cussler's Dirk Pitt series, and I always wondered about that man's medical bills.

I don't know that series - haha - I guess he gets multiple limbs broken?

I placed my vote for Always - it looked so lonely and abandoned ;-) and a vote for The Lucky Ones would create a tie :-)

Sorry, I missed your question... I think Fiji & India's Hindi & Urdu are similar enough for us to be able to understand each other. They seem to be using more pure (difficult and polite) words whereas here it's made quite simple with native and English mixtures (one funny example, "cane top" is usually called "kan-ta'p" here. I think the British people tried to teach these people some English words which they got quite wrong, LOL. Also, lots of mixtures since, people from different casts and groups from India were brought to Fiji, and in India, each state has very much there own language i.e. Tamil, Hindi, Telugu etc...
The name for the natives and its language (iTaukei) was changed recently from 'Fijian' since Fijian is our nationality. I also like the sound of it :)
