Book: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Illustrated Edition
Pages: 259
How it fits: Harry Potter #2
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
Harry Potter is my ultimate of book series and I enjoyed this reread as much, if not more, than every other time I've read this book. The Chamber of Secrets has forever been my second favorite in the series, I love how the trio's friendship is solidified and it's the beginning of Ginny as an actual character. Reading it via the illustrated edition was amazing. Five stars, as always.

Wow, this book was such a disappointment I barely managed to finish it. It had a good premise but it was just too short and rushed for me to like it. There are two more books in the series and I'll do my best to read them, but with a lot lower expectations.

Review: 3.5 Stars. I did like this book, but not as much as the first one in the series. In this book the threesome struggle with telling friends and family about their relationship with surprises both good and bad in the reactions. I didn't find this book as hot as the first one, but still enjoyable.

rating: 4 stars ending 3 starts

I enjoyed this second book of the testing series. However I hate cliff hanger endings. Cia is a strong female character and I loved how she uses her brain to figure out problems. I will probably read the 3rd book in the series even though I don't like cliff hanger endings.

Review: I found Cora to be a bit wishy-washy in this book. I still mostly liked her, but I get annoyed with characters who think one thing, but then when confronted with the man they do something different. Will has the patience of a saint, as far as Cora's trying to break it off with Pierre is considered. The underlying mystery/tension feels a bit forced. It felt more natural in the first book, but didn't carry over to this one quite so well. But Will & Cora together overcomes a lot of flaws. :)

Review: I've been laying in my bed thinking about this book for an hour and I honestly don't know how to put into words how I feel about it. This is the story of Saeed and Nadia, who fall in love during political turmoil and have to migrate together. It was quietly moving and impactful as while it was their story, it was also simultaneously the story of migration in general. It discusses how migration changes people. The prose was beautiful, the characters were lovely. I only didn't give it five stars because while it was a beautiful read, it was heart wrenching and while I loved it, I didn't enjoy reading it. It hurt my heart and I like to save my five stars for books that bring me joy.

Review: Great last book in the Alluring Indulgence series. Finally Brendon finds his girl. Brendon Walker has been struggling ever since his identical twin, Braydon, fell in love with Jessie. Brendon hasn't known how to be his own person - he and Braydon had always done everything together. He's been attracted to country music star Cheyenne Montgomery for years, but doesn't know how to talk to her - Braydon was the charmer! Turns out Cheyenne was attracted to Brendon as well, and he gets his chance to get to know her when she discloses she has a stalker after her. This was a hot, sexy and suspenseful book that also spent a bit of time revisiting the rest of the Walkers as well as some cross-over characters form other books (for instance, Z from Sniper 1.) Usually I'm sad when these long series comes to an end, but there is so much cross-over in Nicole Edward's books that I don't feel like I'm saying goodbye to the Walker boys!

Review: This is a fun little series. They are light and fluffy, and sometimes just what you need for an afternoon of not thinking about the deep things of life. You can escape to the world of vampires, werewolves (and other shifters), witches, fae, gargoyles, and who knows what else. That's really the best word to describe the whole series - fun!

Review: Unlike the previous books in the series, FBI/US Attorney was a minimal part of the book. Vaughn Roberts's brother is getting married and most of the book is about his developing relationship with his brother's soon to be sister-in-law. It was a cute story but no real suspense.

Review:
Oxygen is a debut novel about an anesthesiologist who becomes wrapped up in a malpractice law suit when a child dies under her care. It's been over a full day since I finished it and I'm not sure what to think about this book. It read like a memoir of a doctor (which isn't a compliment) and there were quite a few times when I felt the doctor jargon was not completely necessary for the plot development. I didn't like the twist at the end and felt like it was cheap. It changed the story at the end. Overall, I gave it three stars but it was probably more like 2/2.5.

(I'll add the book link to my review if I can get somewhere with my laptop and internet access in the next couple days).
