I'm sorry but this one does not work. It doesn't look black actually. It's more of a dark blueish green hue but not enough black for 50% of the cover.
I'm looking at this cover though
(the German edition) and this one might.
So if you can't find about black cover, you can use the German edition cover , okay?

No problem, that seems totally fair, just wanted to check :-) Enjoy your holiday!

If we don't have all the completion posts by 11:59 on Thursday does that mean we don't roll for this week? I think it's supposed to be 11:59 on Friday that makes it late - at least that's what we've done in previous years. If we didn't make the deadline do we just wait and turn them in for next week? Also if the same person doesn't turn them in later in the game and it's their second time I know they are eliminated from your team so can you post without that person? (Hopefully won't happen but It'd be nice to know ahead of time).

Is it posting or finishing the book before 11:59 on Thursday that is important or both?
I am back from Vacation. Thank you for your patience.
1. Danielle: if everyone's post isn't in by the cut-off time, YES, you lose a turn. Don't roll for that week.
You can use your FREE pass for that week if you don't want to lose your turn.
Free pass can't be use to win (last week) ~ see rules for more details on this caveat
2. Alison: I only consider a "Completed Post" as finishing. So it doesn't matter if you finished the book, you have to have a completed post with the info by the deadline
Thank you guys for the questions and I am sorry I am just returning.

Ok, but just to double check.
Under the heading: **VERY IMPORTANT**
A team can NOT advance if all reviews are not in by the deadline. That being said, players need to have their reviews in latest by Friday. Technically, a review isn't late until after Thursday 11:59p. But your team captain cannot roll until ALL of the team reviews have been posted.
So, they need to in at the latest on Friday, but it is technically late as of before Friday?????
Is the midnight Thurday a typo?? should it be 11:59 pm Friday for Reviews? with books needing to be completed before 11:59 on Thursday?
If not I am really confused. Just trying to get it all straight, so I don't mess this up as a first timer to this particular challenge and the captain.
Hey Alison,
I will respond in your group thread, but yes, the review needs to be in by Thursday 11:59pm

1. You need 4 or more books read in a series that has at least four books.
You can give me more specific example so I can understand the fact pattern.

I had actually questioned that but then stopped worrying temporarily.
So if it says 4 primary books in a series. Is that enough?
Or would it need to be 5 primary books in the series?
Or, is it 4 primary books in the series, and say 6 works total. but do you need to read the other two? They would need to meet the minimal page count, etc... I am guessing.
the Twilight series might be a good example. as it has 4 primary works, but shows 10 total works. A few of them are between novellas that are long enough, others are however collections or special reprints. So, in that example I am guessing that Midnight Sun (Twilight, #1.5) & The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (Twilight, #3.5) would work, maybe Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined because it does contain within it, Twilight & Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined but would then usurp both of those separately. as would any of the collections that contain the primary works.
So many different ways things are listed, and some between tales are full on novellas were as others ar very short stories.

Thanks for answering, Ezi. I just wanted to clarify what the required minimum was because the series I'm reading has exactly four books in it. Rules state - "there must be more than 4 books in that series" - which makes it sound like 4 is not enough. So 4 and more works perfectly, thank you :).

Just wanted to check something for reading a whole series does it have to be finished for example
I have been reading the one true mate series there is five at the moment but their is more to come would I still get the free pass or not.
Thank you

Question: Reading the series. There are two different points that can be earned here.
✸You can get a point for reading three or more books in a series (this series has 7 books, I think)
✸ANOTHER One point can be earned for starting and finishing a different series up to the current published book even if the series isn't finished.
For instance, you can read
(the current book)
I believe the author will be publishing more in The Others universe without Meg and Simon as lead characters.

HALF BOOKS DON'T COUNT unless they meet the page requirement.
Example:
(Mackenzies & McBrides #6.5) is 160 pages so this one would be acceptable!
(Twilight #3.5) is 153 pages so this one would work as well
Example:

We have a similar situation with team 1.
I think a lot of teams are forgetting you guys have a FREE PASS that you can use when someone is late or has an emergency.
I do hope your teammates are okay.

Does this have to be a new series or can we use re-reads?

I think your questions might all be answered in message 3 at the begining of this thread.

Hi Louise,
1. No Re-reads on any of the Bonus points
2. Half numbers are FINE as allowed as long as they meet the requirements. I gave two examples in the rules if you need further clarification or an illustration

I wasn't sure if it would work like the "✸Half books: ½ or .5 count only if they meet the page requirement AND will be judged by preceding whole number numeral on goodreads." or if once we roll past 19 we are just out of luck.
This week we landed on space 36, so I am wondering if reading a 13th or 16th book in a series was an option?

Team 2 has a member MIA since before the latest roll. Jaime hasn't checked in with us, replied to PMs or apparently been on GR at all since 02 July. We used our free pass last Friday to make up for her missing review, so that's no longer an option if she doesn't turn up before the next deadline. What do we do?

If she continues to be MIA then we will have to let her go from the team. So keep me in the loop

What about the rest of the team if she doesn't show? Do we miss Friday's roll and continue next week or can we roll this week if all remaining team members have their reviews in?

Per rules, if she doesn't show up this week (by thursday) she's off the team. And you all can continue with Friday's roll

Ok, thanks! We're still hoping she'll be back, but it doesn't seem all that likely at the moment.

Not ignorant at all =D It's a Japanese comic basically. I wasn't sure and one of my team asked so I thought I better check. Thank you!!!
Thanks for explaining.
I will say no to Manga until further research. It seems like comics don't have the same number of words on a page like book.
So a 300 page manga might really be like 100 page paperback.
But like I said above, I'm not that knowledgeable.
I will look online at some manga

Ezi, I need some clarification for my team. We had a player that was really late with her review. I rolled as soon as she had it in but there is a question if we should have rolled or not. Should we have waited until next week to roll? Or are we ok? We do have a free pass. This is the first time that I have co-captained and I am a bit confused.

✸ One point can be earned for reading three or more books in a series
AND
✸ One point can be earned for starting and finishing a series (there must be more than 4 books in that series...I will entertain series with spin-offs) ~ no re-reads on this one.
If we read three or more books from the series could the be book #2, #3 and #5? Or do we need to read consecutive books?
And sort of a similar question for the Starting and Finishing a series. If for a week we read book #1 then another week read book #2 but read say 3+4 in between when we do not get a correct roll, but then read say #5 the last book in the series a few weeks later with an appropriate roll. Would we get credit for reading Start to Finish? Or do they all need to be read for the challenge with a matching roll?
Hope I am explaining myself, and not talking in circles.
hi I have a problem with our group the bakers dozen (team 13) one person didn't get review in on time as goodreads was playing up and another didn't finish but I'm not sure if we have a free pass or not and our captin hasn't been in the group in a couple of days either

Hmmmmmm....When I thought of this one, I was thinking of a series that one read within the context of this game. So you used all the books within this particular game.
I am inclined to follow the spirit of that, and require that you would have had to use all of the books in that series in this game.
✸BUT✸ I am willing to listen to arguments if you disagree. So, go ahead and convince me, HEHEHE, I can be flexible.
