Just finished The Guardian's Apprentice - J. Michael Radcliffe. Now I am going to read Falling Immortality: Casey Holden, Private Investigator - Robert Downs.
I am such a slacker! Misplaced my book so I read Edith and now reading the infamous Fifty Shades of Grey
Just finished 11/22/63throughly enjoyed this book. Who hasn't thought about going back in time and fixing a thing or two. It's a long read but definately worth it.
Just finished Falling Immortality: Casey Holden, Private Investigator - Robert Downs. Now I am going to read Beginnings, Prequel to The Guardians of Vesturon - A.M. Hargrove.
This morning I finished Beginnings, Prequel to The Guardians of Vesturon - A.M. Hargrove. Now I am starting Where the Bodies Are Buried - Christopher Brookmyre.
I read Green Hearta freebie I picked up on Pixel of Ink in two days It's not a very big book but it's very well written and a good little story about a young girl that goes through tragedy and learns to have hope and live again.
I'm going to start a book called The Harvest by John David Krygelski. My husband doesn't think I'll like it and won't make it through the book. Guess I'll give it a shot you just never know.
Finishing up on Fifty Shades of Grey and even know I was not a fan I can't stop. I did the same with the The Twilight Saga. I hated myself for it but at least it was easy and fast. Not so much quick and painless tho lol
Alright, I give up, I cannot finish Smashed: Story of a Drunken Girlhood, I just can't get through it. On the one hand, I have daughters and it is just too horrifying and on the other hand, I have four children and there is already enough whining in my day. I can't read a book that is mostly whining. Rarely do I quit on books, but this one has defeated me. Started reading The Help instead, going much better.
Just finished The Stone Gods. Don't normally read Sci-Fi but this one was good. Presents good arguments and projections of where our society will be if we follow the path we're currently traveling. Pollution, wars and policing all over the world..the view of a society controlled by technology etc...

WOW That blows! I haven't picked it up yet but I am a little nervous now lol but The Help is completely different ;-)

I am now reading Fifty Shades Darker and of course I have to finish out the series. I am not too sure about these books but I can totally see what the fuss is about. The first was a little creepy and I surprised myself that I continued on but I rarely can I leave things left undone....
Finished 11th Hour - James Patterson and now going to read The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - The Curious Case Of The Kidnapped Chemist - Darren Humphries.
I just finished reading Twisters and Other Terrible Stormsfor my kids reading group. I have to admit that I learn some interesting things from these books even though I'm the adult!
Just finished Fifty Shades Darker and then couldn't sleep (not book related) so I read 3 of those short free nook booksThirty Minutes Till, Gray Lake and A Ship in the Night and now reading The Maze Runner which is completely and utterly polar opposite.
I just finished The Harvest, I don't recommend this book to anyone, it was terrible. I did finish it, I am a finisher! I think I'm going to start Fifty Shades of Grey. Donna your comments have intrigued me.
I recently picked up The Maze Runner. A complete turn around from what I have recently been reading!
Just finished Sandra Byrd's "Let Them Eat Cake"At the time that I picked the book up, I did not know it was a Christian chick lit book. I did however thoroughly enjoy most parts of the book – baking, the French and the recipes (which I would love to try).
I did however have difficulty with some of the religious points of view especially what I perceived as the desire to find "a Christian" male as being the most acceptable choice for Lexi ( I once had a friend who was discouraged from dating someone because he wasn't Christian, duh); and one comment late in the book at the end of the wedding when Lexi said; "I prayed for Luc and Marianne, that God would draw them to himself as they began their marriage in a country where God often resided in lovely cathedrals but wasn't as welcome in the day-to-day business of humble home". Wow...to me that statement was typical "born again" Christian mentality...where other Protestants don't seem to fit into their image of "real Christians".
Little things like that ruined what could have been more positive impression of this book!
I just finished Fifty Shades of Greyand I don't think I will read book two and three. I'm at work so I don't have time to go into all the things I didn't like about the book but there are a few. I prefer my female characters to be strong and not weak minded. I asked myself could I be her friend and no I could not.

We can have a chat lol It just seemed too...Ahh I can' put my finger on it but I did go and read 2 and it was "a little" better but not enough to push for 3. I think I tortured myself enough ;-)

The only time I was like "about time" was at the end. Done and done, tortured yourself, ha, ha funny.
The ending was the best part because it ended but I have to admit that I did want to read the second in hopes that there was more to the books than the first. I couldn't understand the hype of the first one. The second was a little better but I realized after that there is no hype and it truly is "mommy porn"

This morning I finished Parched - Z.L. Arkadie. I am going to carry on reading The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - The Curious Case Of The Kidnapped Chemist - Darren Humphries.
Finished up on The Maze Runner and now starting Outlander and it's pretty darn thick!!!! Gotta get a move on!!
This morning I finished The Seventh Sister - Z.L. Arkadie. Now I am going back to The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - The Curious Case Of The Kidnapped Chemist - Darren Humphries and dipping into Stone Rain - Linwood Barclay.
Having just finished The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - The Curious Case Of The Kidnapped Chemist, now I am off to read Stone Rain as it needs to be sent to a friend.
I think I will be reading Outlander for some time considering it's 850 pages and I get to read about 10-20 a day!
Yesterday I started and today I finished listening to Killer in The Woods: A Psychological Thriller - R. Barri Flowers
Finished Footprints on the Beach - Aleksandar Žiljak, was a nice relaxing story of love from 2 different time zones. Now I am going to read Abide with Me - Ian Ayris.
Started and finished Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I love to read about Abraham Lincoln and with the movie coming out soon I thought, why not? I was worried the author would make a mockery of Lincoln but that was not the case at all. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes history and doesn't mind a little fantasy mixed throughout. On a side note my husband and I are going to see Kevin Hearne author of the Iron Druid Chronicles next month for a book signing. We both enjoy his urban fantasy series and are looking forward to meeting Mr. Hearne. I am feeling a little geek"ish".

A friend of mine at work is reading it too. I am thinking about it more so now ;-)

Hi,I just joined and thought I'd jump in here. I just don't know about about derivitive books but that's me. I am currently taking on the unusual task...for me anyways...of reading two books at a time The Mysterious Island and Make Room,Make Room.I'm on kind of a based on the book kick. The Mysterious Island is quite a reader...it will be an ongoing project I think.
That second one is the book Soylent Green is based off...loosely...very loosely. I'm a third of the way through and so far reviewers are correct that there is no Soylent Green is people moment. We'll see...
WELCOME!!!! This is a quiet group and I am hoping to make it more interactive as it once was so Please join in whereever you seem fit!
I think the summer makes people "lazy" ;-) and busy! I used to read constantly and now find myself ourdoors moreoften because i have a little bit more time plus the weather has been kind to us this year.
I hope i can get more reading time especially since it is becoming beah weather!

I finished Insurgent tonight after just a few days of intense reading. I found myself wanting to reading this book every chance I got. It was a little bit of a challenge remembering book one and picking up where it left off but it didn't take long. There is quite a bit of violence in this book but it's a war so there you go. Lots of twists in this book you have to pay attention even then it is a bit of a soap opera. No name on the third book yet so now the waiting game begins.
Donna wrote: "I guess I got to push Divergent up on my list!!!"It is a very interesting story I think you will like it :-)
Just finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back. In both cases, just, wow...
Y'all are all reading good books! I got through the first 4 Outlander books, but got stuck on the 5th. They are long, Donna! I also enjoyed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - it was a fun summer read for me. I'm in the midst of too many things. I'm ready to read A Dance With Dragons, and The Waste Lands, but keep getting books from the library before I start!
