Wel, I just started to read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
Been sooo busy! Wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas (belated) and Safe and Happy New Year!! Happy Reading in 2012 :-)
OOOh! Just finished number 24. Stillwatch If I'm lucky I can start and finish number 25 by New Year's...and I'll have met part of my challenge for this year! Happy New Year All!
I missed my goal this year by about 10 books but I still feel a great deal of accomplishment. I have never been an avid reader, more of a go outside and play kid. My husband is just the opposite so he has really encouraged me to read over the years and I have yanked, pulled and tugged him out of the house. I am thinking of a new challenge this year besides just reading "x" number of books. I see Babs you had a goal of A-Z, is that titles or authors? I'm looking for ideas??
It was by author and unfortunately many of the books I wanted to read seemed to have author with last names beginning with R or S. I did get through the bulk of the alphabet but not all of it. I hope to finish my 25th book by the week end.

Congrats on your soon to be finished 25th book, well done! Authors, that would be a challenge and sounds like a good one. I can start looking now for authors and it will force me to go outside my comfort zone. Thanks for the idea.
I tend to read "favorite" authors I thought the challenge to read authors A-Z would encourage me to explore the works of a variety of authors I might not have otherwise read. It was interesting and I did find a few new "favorites". It's worth the effort. I think I'll go for it again this year but plan better...

I'm impressed by the advances the Kindle has made...but the fire has more quipment than I would ever use. I wouldn't surf the net, or that kind of stuff...basically I use my kindle because it's easy to get books ...immediately!
Started Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America Today. I've started the New Year attacking some social issues. Racial relations, poverty and the like. Maybe it will help me shape an outlook for who I might want to vote for this year> :-)
I have finally finished Time Bomb - Jonathan Kellerman and am about to start Cat Calls - Cynthia Leitich Smith
I put The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest on the back burner since I need to catch up on my work book club. I am going to hopefully start An Object of Beauty if it comesion the mail today. My meetig is tomorrow.
I had to put The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest on the back burner since my brain was not ready for it. I am sure it is a great book I am just not in that kinda mode yet so I picked up The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake which is TOTALLY different!
Just finished the first two Sookie Stackhouse books...Dead Until Dark and Living Dead in Dallas. Just started A Discovery of Witches.
This morning I finished Sister - Rosamund Lupton. Now I am going back to Trophy Taker, The - Lee Weeks.
Just finished Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America. Wow if I ever thought I disliked Wal-Mart before now I'm certain! Gives an excellent look into the cyclical patterns of those in low paying jobs. Onto two more books..one for my work with youngster Who Was Albert Einstein? and another by one of my favorite authors, After the Wreck, I Picked Myself Up, Spread My Wings, and Flew Away
Finished my first book of this new year The Name of the Wind. The book was a little on the strange side, I liked the story I just get tired of reading words that are made up and I have to fill in the answer. My son recommended this book, maybe I'm just getting too old :-) don't tell him I said that.

I brought this book not too long ago and have yet to read it. I hear great things but many books drove me nuts with the "new words"

It's a good book and I won't tell you more so I don't spoil for you. It is pretty long 700 plus pages. I just started The Soulkeepers which is only 300 pages, piece of cake. I'm anxious to hear what you think of The Name of the Wind, when you read it that is.
I am reading Cut Short - Leigh Russell on Kindle and Stone Rain - Linwood Barclay in paperback. Also finished The Trophy Taker - Lee Weeks.
Going to leave Stone Rain - Linwood Barclay and Cut Short - Leigh Russell til later. I am deciding to read Six Cats In My Kitchen - Lyn Horner.

Absolutely intriguing and page turning, just like a [author:James Patterson|3780] style novel. Can't wait to read Lee Weeks other books.

Just finished Tollesbury Time Forever - Stuart Ayris and now about to start Last Train From Liguria - Christine Dwyer Hickey

Babs, it never grabbed heart strings, but was a good book from a horse's point and love Michael Morpurgo books anyway.
