Christy, I am glad you liked The Glass Castle; I did too, very much. Are you going to read Half Broke Horses?
After the BBC list of the hundred books you should read came out I made it my new changelle to try to finish as many of the ones of that list that I haven't read and it was already in my TBR.
Diane D. wrote: "Christy wrote: "Stacy wrote: "Christy wrote: "I finished The Glass Castle and I really enjoyed the book. Jeannette Walls is really brave putting her life out there for everyone to see. Christ..." I probably will, I need to add it to my to read list.
I finished Postmortem and I like the book even though the end was pretty predictable. Has anyone read Atlas Shrugged? I was thinking about reading that next??
Atlas Shrugged is an excellent book! It's quite a lot of information to read and digest but speaks to Ayn Rands theories of who in society contributes more..individuals who create ideas or those who work to implement them. (sort of which came first the chicken or the egg). Great minds refuse to be controlled by the whims of society and government. Very fitting in light of the trememdous polarization we see in our society today. It's a great read.

I'm a little intimated by Atlas Shrugged so I decided to startThe Priest's Graveyard. All the reviews have been really good on this book!
I know I am slow but am finally reading Water for Elephants. I have had it on my TBR since I first signed on to goodreads six months ago.

I loved Water for Elephants!!! I am not all to thrilled with the movie due to the cast but it will not stop me from seeing it!
I have finished reading Manhattan Is My Beat - Jeffery Deaver which was ok as 1st book of his I've read, started and finished Bloody Valentine - James Patterson which he never disappointed me in this book. I have now started Goddess of Vengeance - Jackie Collins. Also have listened and wasn't keen on The Various Flavours of Coffee - Anthony Capella.
Finished The Priest's Graveyard and enjoyed it very much. It has a lot of twist and turns so it's a page turner.
I love those kinda books. I am having trouble getting thru The Paperbark Shoe. It is good but somehow not really drawing me in.
I started to read Where She Went because i simply coildn't resist!

Donna, I agree about The Paperbark Shoe. I'm enjoying it, but it's not a quick read for me. It's kind of a bleak story, but it's getting more interesting as I keep reading.
It gets interesting then fades. I find I am going uphill on a great story and then I start to slide down.
I just finished Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back, it only took me two days to read. I'm not the kind of person that needs to read this type of book to confirm my faith or belief. Some of the things this little boy remembers is truly amazing. It's not a preachy book just giving you the story as it happened to Colton.

I never read religion kinda books but that one sounds actually good!

I have finished A Simple Act of Violence - R.J. Ellory. I am now listening to Handle with Care - Jodi Picoult
I am now reading, of course 2 books, 1916: A Novel of the Irish Rebellion and still working on Where She Went
I am currently reading Nefertiti and listening to A Discovery of Witches and Great House, and all of them are very interesting so far.
Just finished the weird The Rapture - Liz Jensen. Now about to start The Tenth Circle - Jodi Picoult
Today I will read 10th Anniversary - James Patterson. Tomorrow I will listen to Songs of the Humpback Whale - Jodi Picoult. I have finished The Tenth Circle - Jodi Picoult.
I figure I will try to catch up when June comes around bu ti am moving Juen first so now my commute goes from 1 1/2 hours to 20 mins! I gotta find some reading time!!!

In an effort to get centered for the second round of a three day mediation training this upcoming week end. It's intense and makes for a long week end.
Oops!! Look again the word is mediation...although I do meditation too for personal reasons. But the mediation involves families referred by the court to attempt to mediate workable solutions to their problems rather than go to court.Interestingly enough the practices of mediation and meditation do involve similiar shifts in thinking.
Didn't have a book on a bus journey, so I went into a bookstore and got 9 books for £15 (3 for £5). So I am now reading The Trophy Taker - Lee Weeks and its gripping me from page 1. Rumoured to be the female version of James Patterson lol
Finally I finished a book! I just finished A Dog's Purpose and if you are a dog person you will like this book. This one dog is reborn four times and remembers his previous lives. It is funny and sad and a easy read.
Just finished reading Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit. I enjoyed it lots...a coming of age story. Style is a little different and it took me a while to catch on the the rhythm of the writer. But on the whole I enjoyed it a great deal.
Finished Murder at the Vicarage. Classic murder mystery and I wish Miss Marple would of had a little more book time. She doesn't really come into play until the end of the book. Ah well I didn't figure it out and it was so obvious! :-)
