I'm hoping to finish up All Clear in the next couple of days. I've had a lot of interruption in my reading the past week. I did manage to slip in a children's Halloween book, The Best Halloween Ever.
I just started Still Missing by Chevy Stevens today, and it looks like it is going to be a good thriller.
I'm reading The Concubine by Norah Lofts. It's about Anne Boleyn. Unfortunately I feel like Lofts hasn't done anything new and it feels like I'm rereading Brief Gaudy Hour by Margaret Campbell Barnes. And I HATED that book. I'm going to go on a rant:One thing that I really can't stand is over use of foreshadowing. I get that something big is coming up, but seriously, don't actually TELL me what's coming up. Does that count as foreshadowing at that point, or just spoiling the story? Another thing that bugs me is when an author has a character continue on for a couple of years and then suddenly, we are back to where we were BEFORE said character. For example: Clement actually did manage to escape, like Campeggio had suggested and fled. (Next Chapter) Clement is a prisoner and we must free him!!! (not verbatim, but you get my point).
Ok. End rant. Thank you for listening.
BTW I finished up on The Forgotten Garden and I am waiting for my copy of Little Bee so in the meantime I am reading a bit of a fluff Deeply, Desperately - I won her first book, Truly, Madly and thought it was cute so...
I am waiting for my copy of Little Bee to come in so in the meantime I started The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
I just finished The Rice Mother today, which I absolutely loved, and I'm going to start Dark Lover and The Forsyte Saga later this afternoon.
So I didn't start The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. I started Jamilia because it is only 94 pages! I wanna start Little Bee and I know it was shipped out last week so it is only a matter of time before I get it.
I have finally given in and picked up the The Twilight Saga and have gotten through the first three in the last week. I am waiting on the fourth from the library. It is enjoyable and I can see why so many people are crazy about it...
Those books are thick but one could easily read it in a day or 2! I wasn't so crazy about them but I think too much into things lol
Still waiting on Little Bee to come in the mail but the book I won on TNBBC, The Wishing Trees came in so I will start that for now!

Putting The Wishing Trees on hold 'cause I gotta get to Little Bee. Not only it is our monthly read but it is also my work's monthly read and I think we meet next week!

Lyn M wrote: "I am a Sherlock Holmes fan, so I might have to try that one, Kathy."It's been an excellent read, Lyn. The author, Graham Moore, is just 28 years old and it's his first novel.
If you are a Sherlock fan you might also enjoy The The Case of the Missing ServantIt's the first in series of mysteries that takes place in India and he uses alot of deductive reasoning like Sherlock.

Miracle and Other Christmas Storiesby Connie Willis
I don't read a lot of short story collections, but I had to try this one by Connie Willis, author of
,
,
, and
. Since these four books are 4 of my favorite of all time and I needed a Christmas read, I was delighted to come across this offering by Willis. I'm really enjoying it, too.
Kathy, my sister just read To Say Nothing of the Dog and she raved about it. I can't wait to try it.

Just finished Saving CeCe Honeycut and am in the middle of The Help. Both good books. I enjoyed laughing out loud while reading Saving CeCe..was a good lift for the holiday season. The Help is a little heavier..but still very good.
I received To Say Nothing of the Dog from a friend of mine who recommended I read it... Hope its a good one
