What are you reading?
I would do the same thing, Donna. Hunt him down and tell him you need them back to read and you will lend them back to him when you are done if he hasn't read them yet.
I am reading I Capture the Castle. I know it's an older book but I have never read and thought I would give it a try.
Wasnt there a movie about that as well Katie?
I am currently reading A Letter of Maryby Laurie King, which is the third book in the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series. I LOVE this series! I have been VERY into series recently, switching back and forth btw. 5 or 6 different ones, all historical fiction and all mysteries. I am bummed b/c I finished An Echo in the Bone, which is the 7th and last (so far)book in the Outlander series. I was trying to read one and then read a few different books in btw., but I got so addicted that I just flew right through the whole series and now I am going to have to wait like another year or two for book 8 to come out...boo,hoo. I have SO many unanswered questions after reading book 7 and there were SO many loose ends at the end of the book, that I truly hope it is sooner rather than later that book 8 hits the shelves. Oh well, I have many more books to keep me occupied until then. I am on my 104 book for the year 2010 and my goal is 120 before the end of the year, but hopefully, I will surpass that and keep right on reading! It has been a VERY productive year, reading wise!

Oh, with Gabaldon's Outlander series, which I've read all of and was bummed when I finished the last one like you, there is a good bit of news. Gabaldon's graphic novel form of The Outlander, told from Jamie's point of view, will be out Sept. 25th.
I just finished Why Shoot a Butler?, which was an oldie, but a goodie and I am getting ready to start Murder on Washington Square.

I read this awhile back and it was really good but I just didn't like some things.

I finshed my last book and am reading The Case of the Man who died Laughing. It's the second in a new series about an Indian P.I.
I finished Murder on Washington Squareand I started Callander Squareby Anne Perry, which is part of a mystery series set in Victorian London and involves a husband who is an inspector and his wife who tries to help him solve the murders.
I am still reading The Alienist!!! I am about 45% into it but the book club meeting is tomorrow. Oh well, it is a good book but I just have been too crazed to really sit down and read!
I'm halfway through Sarah's Key and have so far found it an amazing story. I am always fascinated by historical fiction that presents something I hadn't heard or read about before. I know about the Vichy in WWII, but there are horrors that I was unaware of.
I loved Sarah's story but I think that Julia's story was just bleh! I would have liked it to focus more on Sarah.
Donna wrote: "I loved Sarah's story but I think that Julia's story was just bleh! I would have liked it to focus more on Sarah."Yeah, so far I'm just a tad bit frustrated with Julia.

You should check outThe Angel of Darkness which is the follow up book to The Alienist.
It is good, but not as good as The Alienist, you heard right, but I still wanted to read it, so that I could see how things followed up for the characters.
I just finished Persuasion and am in that icky in-between-book phase where 200 books stare at me saying "pick me! pick me!" and I get indecisive.
I finished Callander Squareand read Murder on Mulberry Bendand I am currently reading Pardonable Lies. All of these books are parts of series that I have been going back and forth between...all historical fiction mysteries. The current read is set in 1930 London and involves a female investigator/psychologist. I think I am bouncing back and forth between 7 or 8 series and trying to get in some stand alone books as well. My current read is the 106th for the year!!!
The Girl Who Chased the Moon was a good read. Cute story. Now I am reading American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld
Lyn M wrote: "The Girl Who Chased the Moon was a good read. Cute story. I'm less than thrilled about reading it though. What do you think about it so far?

I really like it so far. I am only about 150 pages in, but I am finding it very readable and the characters are interesting. I keep finding myself trying to decide who Charlie Blackwell is patterned after, which may be no one, but I am still trying to fit the character into some sort of mold.

Buy it!! Great book! So many things that I found out about that I never knew... that were never taught in our history classes.

Kat,
Thank you! I saw it was on your all time favorites and hoped you would comment! I've buying it today!
I finished Pardonable Lies and I have chosen Grave Goods as my next read. I cannot stay away from the historical fiction murder/mystery series...there are so many and I go back and forth between so many that I am now starting to get characters confused...oh well, that is what happens when you read, read, read all the time.

Hey Paula! I put the fourth one A Murderous Procession on my to be bought list, but it is not out in paperback, so I might wait...is there to be a fifth book in the series?
Anna wrote: "Hey Paula! I put the fourth one A Murderous Procession on my to be bought list, but it is not out in paperback, so I might wait...is there to be a fifth book in the series?"No, I just wasn't clear - I'm waiting for it to come out in paperback :)

Kat, I highly recommend this book! It never ceases to amaze me that no matter how much I think I've read about the Holocaust, there is still more horror and cruelty to learn about. This book brings France's collaboration with the Nazis to the shocking forefront.
Fallout
Meth is indeed a monster that affects so many innocent lives as well as the addicted. This books brings us up to date on Kristina, the children she birthed (not mothered), and the "fallout" of her addiction. I'm only a fourth of the way through it, but it is making an impression already.

I so agree Kathy! This book was wonderful. One of my all time favorites!
Jenni wrote: "The Exile: An Outlander Graphic Novel! :)"I bought this one Wednesday at Border's. I was surprised because I didn't think it came out until next week, but the clerk said it came out early. What? Diana Gabaldon with an earlier than planned publication date and minimized text! Will wonders never cease? LOL!
I finished Grave Goods and I am currently reading Mistress of Mellyn which is an oldie, but has turned out to be a goodie! It is about an old manor in Cornwall and a lady who becomes the governess and starts to uncover old family secrets.

Ohhhh toooo true! Did you know that Diana Gabaldon wrote for Disney comics? I used to work for Disney, and I had nooo idea!
I just finished The Other Boleyn Girl and am still trying to get through The Gargoyle which is proving difficult to read. So, I am also reading The Alchemyst and The Fellowship of the Ring with my son to lighten things up a bit.
I am currently reading Belong to Me, which so far is a very intriguing/good book and it is current fiction, so that is different for me b/c I have only been reading Historical Fiction and it has been awhile since I have read anything else.

I'm reading Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, A Secret Kept (audio book), City of Thieves, and Our Kind of Traitor.

As for Belong to Me, I loved that book. Have you read the first one yet? It is called Love Walked In and it is also good.
I started Kisscut by Karin Slaughter yesterday and am having a hard time putting it down. It is the second in a series and a really good thriller.

Hunt that nephew down (yes, pun intended in keeping with the books) and reclaim your books, Donna. I didn't think I would like these books, but I love, love them.
