So I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and it was pretty good. It was kinda hard to het into but once I got passed all the business jargon I started to fly through it. I requested The Girl Who Played with Fire (the sequel) from the library so in the meantime I'm going to start Water for Elephants & then Towelhead.

Just finished a delightful book called Black Maria, M.A. - John Russell Fearn. Will now read The Shape of Murder - J.F. Straker. These are from Linford Mystery Library series.

Arthur Banning hummed nervously to himself as he trotted down the steps of the office block in which the Croydon branch of London and Provincial Properties Limited was housed. At street-level he paused to look back. The sun was a dull red ball in a darkening sky, and the wide entrance to the building lay in the shadow. In the years that he worked for LAPP he had been up and down those steps many thousands of times, but he could not recall ever before having experienced any emotion other than boredom in the process. Now it was different. Now he was full of emotions; fear at what he had done, exhilaration at what he was about to do, doubt of his ability to do it. At forty-eight , and steeped in the routine of job and home, a man does not take easily to adventure.

I've been hearing lots of great things about that book. I was ever so close to buying it last week. It is moving quickly up on my TBR list.

I'm on The Shadow of the Wind right now and am enjoying it thus far.

Just finished Succubus Dreams - Richelle Mead and now I am gonna read Succubus Heat - Richelle Mead

Some days, a girl just can't catch a break...especially when the girl in question is Georgina Kincaid, a shape-shifting succubus who gets her energy from seducing men. First there's her relationship with gorgeous bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, which is unsatisfying on a number of levels. It's not just that they can't have sex in case Georgina inadvertently kills him (generally a turn-off for most guys). Lately, even spending time together is a challenge.Seth's obsessed with finishing his latest novel, and Georgina's under demonic orders to mentor the new (and surprisingly inept) succubus on the block. Then there are the dreams. Someone, or something, is preying on Georgina at night, draining her energy, and supplying eerie visions of her future. Georgina seeks answers from Dante, a dream interpreter with ties to the underworld, but his flirtatious charm only leaves her more confused - especially as the situation with Seth reaches crisis point. Now Georgina faces a double challenge - rein in her out-of-control love life, and go toe-to-toe with an enemy capable of wreaking serious havoc among mankind. Otherwise, Georgina, and the entire mortal world, may never sleep easy again...

This was as good as her others with plenty of turning pages. Took me 48hrs to read and boy I wasn't disappointed. The ending I wasn't expecting to happen, but hey its the way things go in the book.

Can't wait til start reading book 4 lol.

So far Shantaram is awesome!! The very first page makes you hungry for more. I'm kinda glad that the book is over 900 pages!

message 16: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments I am sooo going to have to get Shantaram! I love long books!

I'm currently working on Midnight Sun, The Graveyard Book, House of Leaves, and An Artist of the Floating World.

I know... it's a lot! I really am enjoying all of them, and it's really weird to be reading four totally different books at one time. I feel like I have book-ADD right now. :)

House of Leaves may be next on my list. I've had it for some time now. The other books may have to go on my TBR list.

I'm awesoMEGAN! (missesmh) | 161 comments Midnight Sun was AWESOME! I really hope she finished the book one day ... it can easily be 700+ pages.

message 23: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments I am 108 pages into Midnight Sun, and I think that it is quite possibly the best of the lot so far. As far as the four finished books goes, Eclipse was my favorite.

I do hope that she goes back and finishes Midnight Sun. I can't see why she wouldn't make a lot of money off of it, given how popular the series is.

Donna (dfiggz) | 3116 comments Mod
I think that whatever she writes next will def sell because the series was so popular and I also heard that the Host was also popular. I agree, I don't see how it won't sell.

message 25: by I'm awesoMEGAN! (new)

I'm awesoMEGAN! (missesmh) | 161 comments I just finished The Host ... took me forever.
It sucked for the 1st 400 pages and then got really great ... then I sobbed ...then it was over.
So I am not really anticipating reading The Seeker .... i will read it in time.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmm...I just started reading The Host. So far I really like it. But I'm only 31 pages in.

message 27: by I'm awesoMEGAN! (new)

I'm awesoMEGAN! (missesmh) | 161 comments If you like to start then you will LOVE the entire thing. A friend of mine loved the book. I just didn't want to read narrative BS - I wanted the dialogue between everyone.

LOL! I guess there is only one way to find out. My sister loved it and we usually don't go wrong with recs to each other.

I have the book and have been meaning to read it but my list is growing long! After Shantaram I will read House of leaves than maybe I will dive into the Host or maybe I will just switch it around LOL

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

House of Leaves took me quite awhile but I really liked it. It was so different from almost anything I've read recently....and maybe ever.

I remeber we talked about that once. You also said that the way it was written was strange (s few words on many pages) I figured I'd read all the large books back to back LOL

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I try to spread the large ones out as much as possible. That being said, I didn't consider large, so to speak, but it did take a little while to read.

Well I am still trying to decide if I want to read The Host or HOL. I might just go with The Host simply because all the read of her novels i read pretty quick

Finished Succubus Heat - Richelle Mead and will carry on reading Hollywood Wives - Jackie Collins.

Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus…

…which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, she’s been so wicked that Seattle’s über-demon Jerome decides to 'outsource' Georgina to a rival - and have her spy for him in the process.

Being exiled to the frozen north - okay, Vancouver - and leaving Seth in the cosy clutches of his new girlfriend is unpleasant enough. Then Jerome is kidnapped, and all immortals under his control mysteriously lose their powers. One bright spot: with her life-sucking ability gone, there’s nothing to keep Georgina from getting down and dirty with Seth - nothing apart from his girlfriend that is. Now, as the supernatural population starts turning on itself, a newly mortal Georgina must rescue her boss and figure out who’s been playing them - or all hell will break loose…

Well, this is different to the others, but still packed a punch with the storylines being page turning still.

In April her new book Succubus Shadows will be out lol.

Just finished Hollywood Wives - Jackie Collins

"Miss Collins at her raunchy best" - "New York Times". Hollywood wives, they're a privileged breed - glamorous, beautiful and demanding. When life is this fast, there are no guarantees. Status is everything - and that's only as high as the box office of you husband's latest movie. It features: Elaine Cont - wife of a fading star, who'll do anything to put his career back into orbit; Angela Hudson - a breathtakingly beautiful starlet with a wildly ambitious stud for a husband; and, Montana Grey - gorgeous renegade, she'll stop at nothing to make it in the male-dominated world on the other side of the camera. "Hollywood Wives" is a scorching blockbuster that exposes the glittering bitchery of Beverly Hills - before racing to a chilling and unexpected climax...

It was ok, not sure whether I would recommend, unless ur a Jackie Collins fan.

There are parts in Shantaram that are just too grusome to speak out loud and other parts I am laughing out loud. I think a good stomach is needed in order to read this! I am 450 pages in and I gotta say on my way into work today I think I read the most horrifying part thus far and I think I throw up alittle! But all the same I am still in love with this book!

Good luck!!

message 40: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments LOL Donna! I can't wait to start it, even if your comment from a few minutes ago is a bit scary. :)

I've ordered it from Amazon, but selected the free shipping as I'm reading a few other books anyway (so why pay to have it shipped when I can't start it yet?) - but I can't wait to read it.

Decided to read Scarpetta - Patricia Cornwell.

message 42: by Anna (new)

Anna (stregamari) I just finished "Ghost Road Blues" by Jonathon Maberry. Good, not as good and scary as a John Skipp book, but not many are :) http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12... , now I'm on "Quadrille" by Marion Chesney, one of my favorite Regency author. Her people are so real, and stupid sometimes, just like real life. I know, it's suicide to confess to loving regency romances!

OK so here is something that really annoys me...So far 5 pages of Shantaram are nearly BLANK! Some words are legible but most iof it is not. So I am going to write to the publisher to piss & moan about it! There is a lot of story on each page and to miss out on 5 of them is just WRONG!!!
