I just completed one of the BOMs. Do I have to answer the DQ or is it just one person per team? Also - do I have to actually do the discussion questions, or can I just post some thoughts about it? Or respond to someone else's post about it? The DQs just feel a little too school like for me. I mean, I'll do it for the points if necessary, but I'd rather have actual discussion.

And you do not have to answer the actual questions, you can just add to the discussion as long as it is more than a sentence or 2.
So go for it and we earn 20 points. 8-) Just let us know the post # so we can add it to the spread sheet. Thanks!
Oh and did you like the book? I did!
I was lukewarm on the book. I struggled a little throughout. I thought it was really well written, but I found it was too detailed at points and took awhile for it to find its purpose, if that makes sense.
I really want to finish my book right now, but can't because I have an essay to write. It's due tonight and I am about half way through writing it. I just can't focus. I am in major procrastination mode. I've walked my dog about 4 times in the last few hours. I think he's avoiding me now. He just wants to sleep. Why does life get in the way of my reading all the time? First work, now school.

I am close to finishing "Strange the Dreamer" and I so wished my lunch break was 30 minutes longer today!
It's a known law of the universe really, whenever your book starts getting good, your break will end.
Candace wrote: "It's a known law of the universe really, whenever your book starts getting good, your break will end."That is the WORST. Especially when the break ends and you have about 5-20 pages left and it's RIGHT AFTER the big reveal.
If it makes you feel better, I have a big project due too that I need to work on... Plus side: my project involves some reading later on (mostly picture books); downside, I have a bunch of new yarn I want to play with :(

I only keep the book(s) I'm currently reading on my Kindle app. I delete everything as soon as I've read it. I got used to freeing up the space when I had my first iPhone and practically no storage. Even now, with an iPad and phone with enough storage to download every book I've ever read, its habit.

"I used to be like this with audiobooks on my old phone. Now I have over ten times what I had on my last phone, and keeping all my currently checked out audiobooks takes up maybe 2% of the space.
I don't think I could ever limit my nook to only what I'm currently reading. But a big part of having my nook is making sure on long trips I always have a variety of options to read on a whim.
Over the weekend I picked up A Gentleman in Moscow from Barnes and Noble. It was 20% off, plus my 10% off membership, plus a 20% off coupon brought it from a super-expensive $30 book down to $16! My work trip starts tomorrow, so I'm going to bring it along and print out the discussion questions so I can read it and come up with my answers to the questions on the plane and at the hotel. I'm pretty sure I can finish it by the 12th if I can kick the reading slump that's been plaguing me this week.
Bethany wrote: "Random Discussion Question of the DayIs there anything that you do that you think is cool, but also seems somewhat unusual or misunderstood?"
My book-related weird thing is that I have a compulsion to regularly reshuffle my bookshelves. I used to do it more than once a week, but I've settled into reorganizing maybe once or twice a month now.
My non-book related weird thing is that while I have a pet, it's
not a cute fuzzy dog or cat like many of you have, because I'm allergic to adorable fuzzy things. I have a pet snake instead. :P
I thought I better mention that I'm leaving Thursday for the beach with my husband and kids. I'm bringing books along (and I should have time to read), but I'm not sure how often if at all I'll get online to check in. I'll log in any books I finish when I get home:-). So, don't be alarmed if I don't "check in" for a bit;-)! I'm still reading:-).

And not because of lack of space, I just don't like seeing books I have already read on my kindle or in general my shelves either. Once I have read a book that I own I take it to the used bookstore and turn it in for credit so I can get more. This may be weird but I never re read a book I have already read even if I loved it. (the exception are my Taoist books. )

Cool! What kind of snake? I was allergic to dogs and cats as a kid (Still allergic to cats but not dogs any more) and I have a pet Iguana for awhile and also frogs and turtles.

Caly ☯ wrote: "Cool! What kind of snake? Technically an "anery motley" cornsnake, though that means nothing to most people. She's 9 months old, less than two feet long, and has never even tried to bite anyone. She did poop on my SO though.
I kind of wanted to get a bearded dragon, but they are more labor-intensive in terms of having a very frequent feeding schedule needing live bugs. I may at some point consider getting one when I have more free time. I'm also considering possibly getting a crested gecko.
I want cats, and am getting allergy shots which should decrease my sensitivity, but for now it's a toss-up as to whether I'm totally fine or in perpetual fits of sneezing around cats.
Random question, do I have to finish the book for the Book of the Month points to count for participating in the discussion...? (I will finish it, just not sure if it will be by tomorrow...)
Jennifer wrote: "Random question, do I have to finish the book for the Book of the Month points to count for participating in the discussion...? (I will finish it, just not sure if it will be by tomorrow...)"Yes but you have 1 month from the day the BoM was started so for "The Circle" it is Jun 2,
for "Gentleman from Moscow" it is Jun 12
and for "Strange the Dreamer" Jun 22
Did we ever get the points for my having read Gentleman in Moscow? I posted in the discussion thread for it. Is there something else I have to do?
Caly ☯ wrote: "Yes but you have 1 month from the day the BoM was started so for "The Circle" it is Jun 2, for "Gentleman from Moscow" it is Jun 12

I still plan to read both books by those dates. I have been racing to finish May challenges and did not manage to squeeze them in this month.
Candace wrote: "Did we ever get the points for my having read Gentleman in Moscow? I posted in the discussion thread for it. Is there something else I have to do?"Sorry if I missed it! I'll get to it asap, though I'm just heading out for a work trip so at earliest it will be this evening.

Oh no worries. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't cause I did it wrong, or didn't do enough to get the points.

I appreciate you letting me know!

As soon as I finish a book on my Kindle, it gets deleted on my Kindle and my Amazon account. I never re-read books, so I figure what's the point of keeping them?
Hey Candace! I'm struggling with working with the spreadsheet on my phone, so I'll have to wait until I can access a computer. I may be able to sneak in a few minutes at the office tomorrow, but worst case scenario Saturday! Don't worry... They'll get in there eventually.
Whew, okay, I'm back from my work trip which was followed by a crazy weekend of friends dragging me to Denver and back, and I *think* I've finally caught up on BOM updates. Let me know if you have answered a DQ and finished a BOM but are not on the BOM tab yet. Thanks!
Welcome back Bethany! Hope you had a great weekend. 8-D. And that reminds me. Crew could I get you all to check in and make sure you are still on board? I'm not a fast reader by any means so that is fine, but as per the rules-
(You do NOT have to join the discussion, if you don't want to; communicating
via posting a book is good enough. Nevertheless, Your Team wants to know if you are
still participating. We understand Real Life gets in the way. However, please plan to
"check-in" in some manner at least once every week. If we don't hear from you for two weeks, you may be replaced with another team member)
I just want to make sure that you are still interested in playing.
Thanks!
I was going to ask about a series I am reading now. It's a collection of 5 books. I've looked everywhere and they are not listed separately on Goodreads or Amazon, where I bought it for my Kindle. So, do I try and list them as five separate books or as it is on Goodreads, as essentially one long book?
Candace wrote: "I was going to ask about a series I am reading now. It's a collection of 5 books. So you can either shelve the single books, or let your captain know so they can do a "page override" in the spreadsheet to change your page numbers.
For an omnibus like Wool Omnibus where it is just the one book, but was previously released in parts ; then you would shelve and use the page numbers for the Omnibus.
Since you can't find the individual books I would say you list it as one long book. Of course you will have to read the whole thing ;-)
I'm working on it!! Each book is treated as one chapter within a larger chapter, so I am reading it as one whole book. Should be good for points though. Over 800pages.

Nice!
Hi Jamie and Sophie! Welcome to the crew! I sent friend requests and look forward to getting to know you both. Please create Tower Team shelves so we can get to added to the spread sheet and Happy Reading!
Still here! Not reading as quickly or posting as much due to work nonsense, but definitely still here!
Bethany wrote: "Still here! Seems the Mods have noticed too since we now have 2 more team members. 8-)
