Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Hi all! Hope you have all had a good weekend. Apologies I wasn't on much as I was out and about for most of the weekend and didn't even get much reading done.

We have a long weekend here next weekend and my daughter is going to stay at her nana's so I plan to do nothing much except read for most of it and I am looking forward to having some down time as it had been a very busylast few weeks.

I finished Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) by Laini Taylor on Friday night and managed to finish No Humans Involved (Women of the Otherworld, #7) by Kelley Armstrong tonight. I have started You (You, #1) by Caroline Kepnes but am only about 60 pages in. I had a whole host of new challenges start this week so have lots of books on the schedule this week. Will start Who's Afraid Too? (Tommi Grayson #2) by Maria Lewis tomorrow and then plan to read The Calling (Darkness Rising, #2) by Kelley Armstrong , The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater and Whispers Under Ground (Peter Grant, #3) by Ben Aaronovitch

What is everyone else reading this week?

Also don't worry too much if it appears one of your books is missing a page count. I have set up the spreadsheet so the space goes bright read if we are missing a page count and both Poongothai and I go through the spreadsheet regularly to make sure all points are being included and added correctly. However if you do see something you think we might ahve missed please let us know :-)

have a great week everyone :-)

Marybeth (narutofan14) | 262 comments I recently finished The Beauty of Darkness (The Remnant Chronicles, #3) by Mary E. Pearson and The School for Good and Evil (The School for Good and Evil, #1) by Soman Chainani and both were ok. I also decided to wait until the end of the week to start on my other books so I am hoping to finish Ashen Winter (Ashfall, #2) by Mike Mullin , Crystal Storm (Falling Kingdoms, #5) by Morgan Rhodes and possibly In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken and I will probably go to the library around the end of the week as well. I am also slowly working on A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3) by Sarah J. Maas and The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan and should be done with both by the end of the week as well hopefully,

Today I am hoping to finish The City of Ember (Book of Ember, #1) by Jeanne DuPrau and Ashes to Ashes (Burn for Burn, #3) by Jenny Han . I also hope to read Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor , Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu and The Girl from the Well (The Girl from the Well, #1) by Rin Chupeco .

Amy i have read the first deborah harkness book and started reading Shadow of night a few years ago but for some reason never quite got to the end. Its one of those series that I keep promising myself I will get back to and not quite gotten there yet.

Speaking of getting back to series i had tried and failed to finish previously, after 3 failed attempts finally managed to read The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater over the long weekend last weekend and I really enjoyed. Really would like to get to Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater sometime this month

Marybeth, looks like you and I have some similar books on our TBR as I also read Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu and Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu over the long weekend and now also have Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu in my sights and I just bought all three of the daughter of smoke and bone series on kindle as well as book one on audio and and looking to get back into that series again :-)

Overall its been a pretty good reading week as I have also managed to read Broken Homes (Peter Grant, #4) by Ben Aaronovitch , Sweet Friend of Mine (Sweet Cove Mystery #8) by J.A. Whiting , Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic (The Dowser #2) by Meghan Ciana Doidge , Stray (Spark, #2) by Rachael Craw and The Purr-fect Crime (Willow Bay Witches #1) by Samantha Silver this week and have just started on The Witch's Mirror (The Oracle War) by J.P. Hyzer

on the schedule so far for this week is Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews and Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong . Awaiting other challenge tasks to be set before I can fix the rest of my reading schedule for the week. I am really hoping i can fit some Laini taylor, marie Lu and Maggie Stiefvater in my final amazing race leg :-)

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments Still waiting for my books from Amazon. I checked the tracking and it says they were delivered, but I didn't receive them. Of course the tracking also says they were in Wisconsin and I am in Ohio. I hope this gets straightened out soon.

Andrea (deja05) | 732 comments Hi everyone! I just finished a short book and am working on Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) by Laini Taylor which is almost finished and The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas next. I didn't get to read A Gentleman in Moscow for BOM unfortunately.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Like Nikk I have also read the first Deborah Harkness book... amd also kept telling myself to finisj the series soon. Eventually, right?

I'll finish the series if my books ever arrive.

So, the continuing saga of the books order... The seller I ordered from supposedly sent the books and according to tracking, they were delivered. Problem is the tracking says they were delivered to Wisconsin and I am in Ohio. I tried to contact the seller through Amazon like we are supposed to, only to find out that the seller has been removed from Amazon! I looked at the feedback and out of 109 replies, 108 of them say the seller is a scammer that sends things to the wrong address to trick the tracker. I now have Amazon looking in to the issue and have reordered the books (costing twice as much as the original order). Fingers crossed that the sellers follow through tis time (I'm sure they will as they are sellers I have used before with no trouble)

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments ooh I have been meaning to go check that out. I am also reading like crazy this week for the final leg of Amazing race so really hoping to bump up my reading numbers this next week or so :-)

message 225: by [deleted user] (new)

I should be back on track with reading this week too, sorry I've been a bit absent. We moved on Thursday so things were really hectic with prepping and getting settled in. But with the exception of a few boxes we are completely set up now so more reading time will be available for me :)

message 226: by Marybeth (last edited Jun 20, 2017 06:19PM) (new)

Marybeth (narutofan14) | 262 comments I've actually slowed down a little this week with reading but I am hoping to finish In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken , Always and Forever, Lara Jean (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #3) by Jenny Han and possibly Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor .

Also, I have orientation at the university I am going to in the fall on Thursday and after I will be going to my grandparent's house for about a week. They have recently sold their house and while waiting to move into the new house so they are staying at a friends house which has no wifi so I will probably be able to check in when we go into town but I probably won't have my computer with me so I will update when I get back. :)

No worries Karla. Everyone reads at different speeds.

I really need to re-read The Shining. I read it years and years ago but barely remember it. Thinking about revisiting It by Stephen King also. I loved that book and thought the movie/minseries that they made of it back in the 80/90s(?) absolutely hysterical. Tim Curry makes a great Pennywise the clown :-)

I felt so-so about Graceling. I love how the characters are built with their characteristics and how the world was created. Partly hilarious and I've not felt bored about any part of it at all.

There's supposed to be a new "It" movie coming out soon.

I finally received my books so I am listening to Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness today. I will listen to The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3) by Deborah Harkness later this week, since I have appointments Mon-Wed and will listen to shorter books on those days.

I came back from my grandparents house on Wednesday and was able to finish The Son of Neptune (The Heroes of Olympus, #2) by Rick Riordan which was pretty good. I also got The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas but I didn't get to it until the end of the week so I will probably finish it sometime next week.
This weekend I plan on finishing In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken which I am hoping to finish today, 1984 by George Orwell and Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor .

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments I have The Woman in Cabin 10 in print AND audio, so I can start it soon. I also received You in audio. Is it too late to do the BOM for that one?

Unfortunately it is too late to do the You BOM as the deadline was 2/7/17 :-( I made it to page 60 of You so I have missed out also.

I wanted to do woman in cabin 10 but my reservation at the library hadn't come available yet and I think there might still be another reservation in front of me. I do have the other 2 for this month though and hoping to get both of them done.

How are you going with the Deborah Harkness series and what do you think so far?

I think I burnt myself out a little in the final of week of amazing race last week as between that and school holidays starting this week, I haven't gotten nearly as much reading done. I started The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood today and hoping to get that and Dream a Little Dream (The Silver Trilogy, #1) by Kerstin Gier done by the end of the weekend

message 239: by Amy the book-bat (last edited Jul 06, 2017 10:14PM) (new)

Amy the book-bat (batkisses) | 914 comments I still need to read the third one. It is very interesting and a different way to look at history for sure. I keep planning book 3 and then something comes up that I need to read before it... at least I own a copy of both the print and the audio, so it doesn't matter how soon I get to it (except that I want to know what happens in the end)

I wasn't a huge fan of the Handmaid's Tale. I'm just not into the dystopian thing, I guess. I'm glad we aren't in that world!

This week looks a little busier than usual but I am hoping to finish a few books.
