Allegiant question

I just finished Allegiant, and my opinion of the third book is kind of mixed.

When I first read Divergent, I thought it was AMAZING. When I read Insurgent, I was addicted. But when I started this book, I felt disconnected with the world, and with the characters. By leaving the city behind, they also left a lot of the magic of the story, and I felt that they spend too long at the Bureau.

But the ending...while I "get it" from a write perspective, and from her character arc.....I just didn't feel it was executed the best way it could have been. It didn't feel right.

the first two books:
OH YEAH AWESOME ACTION AND ROMANCE YAH UH HUH

The third book:
tris and four kiss for 1/4 of the book, get used to the faction-less compound and plan to destroy Erudite for 2/4 of the book, tris takes the rest of the book to die.

Hated the ending, ruined the series for me. So unnecessary to have Tris die...her parents sacrificed themselves for her, so she could continue to live! But no, she had to go and be a damn martyr. I was heart-broken for Tobias. I was really hoping we would get more from this book, to see more of what was beyond the fences, with Tris and Tobias leading the way.

I didn't mind the ending so much, because realistically the hero isn't always going to get the perfect ending, much as I might want them to. I just didn't like the book overall. I agree that it dragged; I lost interest in the characters and I felt that their personalities (Tobias's especially) faded a little bit. I began to get confused which POV each chapter was telling the story from, because both Tris's and Tobias's ways of narrating were so similar (in my opinion).
The first two books were much more enjoyable for me.

I have mixed emotions about this books.

i love it , not the typical happily ever ending ,, though its really heartbreaking specially for four .. i totally agree with roth on how and why he ended this trilogy that way

I get the feeling the people talking about not "walking into the sunset" saw that interview with Vironica Roth?

I get why she did it but i was deppressed she didnt get the life she deserved. But at least she died a good death for the greater good. BUt i mean now i can write fanfiction on what couldve happened

The ending was amazing. Seriously amazing. I'm fed up with books that just end up with the character skipping into the sunset.

I didn't like the ending of it at all. Yes if you're looking for a life leason then sure it's a good ending I guess.... But as I felt about it (Seeing as I wasn't looking for a life leason) I hated it. I felt more connected to the charters in this one than I did for book two. Even though I did a little bit in book 1. But to kill her at the very end like that and not even let Four say good-bye to her one last time like that!? No! NO WAY MAN!! That's just wrong! And then to read about his pain and everything he went through after he learned she died like that------just no. I cried because of how they killed her and then how much pain he was in because of it. No not a good ending at all!

The ending isn't how I'd love for it to be (Tobias with Tris and living happily until they die of old age) but I think it was necessary to keep it realistic and remind us of how much Tris was willing to sacrifice for what she believed in. What she did wasn't the smartest thing to do, but it is what it is. I think Veronica Roth did a great job finishing the series, writing it knowing it wasn't how her audience would have wanted it to end.

This book was similar to Mockingjay for me. Since I read the past two and was emotionally invested in the characters I still loved it. I also knew the ending was coming the moment Veronica Roth added Four's perspective. I was not sure if it was going to be Tris but I did know one of them would die. There were parts the dragged but on a whole I loved the character arc. I don't think Tris needed a happy ending, she just needed to do her part in the world and was truly dauntless when she went out with a bang...no pun intended.

I personally wasn't bothered by the fates of any of the characters in the ending. That's the way the author wanted to end the book, and I'm cool with it.
The book REALLY disappointed me, though. Insurgent made it sound like the next book would go like this:
They go beyond the fence and battle some zombies or robots or humans with weird birth defects where they have two heads or something awesome.
But that's not what happened, and because of that, the book bored me.

I liked it. A lot of people were really mad or annoyed by the ending but come on,you had to have known that one of the main characters was going to die. I enjoyed the ending because it was clear.It shows what happened to the characters and what life was like after one of the main characters die.

i didn't really enjoy the ending either - i feel like the rationale for why things happened wasn't necessarily justified. i.e. the ending for Tris and Four. it just didn't do it for me.

now to say that it's the worst ending ever? nope - requiem got that one hands down. but still in this instance i think that we were so invested and expected things to work out differently, even if a lot of leads had to die - so what happened just wasn't the way to go in my eyes.

The trilogy really dragged, and I absolutely HATED the ending, how depressing. I saw the film, which was ok, but I definitely will not be going to see the next two films.

I hated the whole book (Allegiant). I was so happy with where the series was going when I read Divergent, but Insurgent took a turn for the bad and Allegiant took it right to the worse. This trilogy was a flop in my opinion and the movie wasn't very good either.

bad ending.

Hated it. Worst ending to a series in my opinion.

I did like the end. It was surprising and full with feels, also realistic. Made the series different and authentic in a way.

Is really sad to me that Tris died... But I really like the twist that the autor make killing her principal character because it makes the story more realistic to me, I mean is not the traditional ending were all live happily ever after, bad things can happen in real live and I apreciated that Veronica bring something refreshing to the YA novels.

I thought the ending couldn't have been anymore perfect. I see comments saying that Tris's death was rushed and was pointless. Since when is death slowed down and since when has death ever served a purpose? History is filled with people doing great things and ultimately dying unexpectedly for no good reason, for example, Martin Luther King Jr. YA books so often make the main characters live a "happy ever after" which is great and all but in some cases may not be very realistic. Authors choose what they want to do and I applaud any author that decides to make a decision that they know a pretty good chunk of their key audience will disagree or hate. I highly doubt Veronica Roth thought to herself "Hmmmm, I bet my fans will love me killing of the main character of the trilogy."

I was actually very pleased with Tris' death because she, in the words of Veronica Roth, "Deserved a powerful ending." You can't just have your main character go through life learning what true sacrifice means and then give her a sunshine-rainbows-all-is-perfect-with-the-world-because-we-saved-the-day-yipee finish, it just doesn't work like that. I agree completely with Veronica Roth's decision.

I found the explanation for Divergents very intriguing. This whole series we've been told by the Erudite experts (and who can argue with them?) that there is some difference in the brain of Divergents and "regular people" like "them", but now it's like, whoa, I'M DIVERGENT TOO! AW YEAH!

In regards to Tris, I found her a LOT, and trust me, I mean A LOT like Katniss. What I mean by that is: she had problems. Of course, SHE was always the "hunted" SHE had all the troubles, and SHE deserved to win, not anyone else, simply because she was Divergent (or in Katniss' case, the Mockingjay) she didn't even try to imagine what others were going through (note to Tris: THIS IS HARD ON EVERYONE, OKAY?)

And Tobias. He narrated some, and lets just say: no man, let alone DAUNTLESS at that matter, speaks like that. You want to talk about annoying. Oh brother.
