Technothriller Novel from the 1980s - Main ship in it is called USS Triton

This is going to be a very tricky one.

There is a listing of fictional warships on the Shipbucket forum and I am interested in finding the novel that one of the ships named comes from. The ship is an American submarine named USS Triton. Publication year is given as 1987.

I have no details as to author/title or plot, if this rings a bell with anyone please let me know, as it will save a lot of fruitless searching.
