I read this in the seventies, probably early seventies. It had an album with songs to go along with it and was about a boy, possibly with the name of Michael who dies but doesn't know he is dead and about the angels who guide him through heaven and help him get acclimated. It was sad but beautiful and may have been a play as well.

The Littlest Angel by Charles Tazewell is a popular book with this theme. It was a radio play and television show as well.

I'm not sure honestly. In the one I am thinking of in the beginning he is trying to talk to his family and is puzzled why they do not seem to see or hear him. He doesn't know he's in heaven. I saw that this book starts with him at the gates of heaven so am just not sure it is the same book.
