Nay (4ukcats) Tessa-I see that you gave Feyness 4 stars but how was it?? Worth reading??

And how about the others who've already finished? I'm looking forward to hearing about many of these books!

Ela | 4291 comments I finished Daughter of the Blood and wow!

message 7: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Ohhh, I think I forgot to say it here, but I finished Comfort Food and 5 starred it (and both cursed and thanked Robin for picking it for me).

This looks amazing....I have had my fill of YA for a bit, but it's going on the list

Yes! This is one of my favorite series I'm so glad you liked it. Now go read the rest of them ;)

message 12: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Cant wait to see what Jan thinks of Night Owl.

Yay to Jean for loving my fave Stepbrother Dearest!!!

I'm not starting mine yet because I'm sure I will love it and want to continue series...I have a few other April commitments to finish first.

message 13: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments I just found this thread.

Renee - I did like it! There wasn't enough paranormal in it to even be considered one. The paranormal aspect isn't used other than to say something about emotions. *sighs* And active, I think it could have been awesome.

However, it was super dark, though it went there in some areas, and didn't in others. I can't say more past that without spoilers. But, I really did like it and I want to read the next one when it comes out.

*adds Daughter of the Blood to the LONG wishlist*

I love all of them. Daemon is one I love in my books but I would run from him in real life.

Jean | 1658 comments Here's my review for Stepbrother Dearest! Thank you Leslie!

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

When is the next pick....is this a monthly thing?

message 22: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) That's a great list up there. Funny how there's some books you think everyone else has read, then when you look at a list like that you see, no, not everyone has. The Bird and sword? Lick? Exaltation of larks?

We're gonna have fun with this challenge.

message 23: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments I've finished mine - I enjoyed it - not quite 4* for me but a good book and one that has been on my TBR for a long time - thanks Bev.

message 24: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Paula, I love that cover. Glad you liked your pick!

message 25: by Anna (new)

Anna Penwick (annapenwick) | 166 comments I'm not liking Sweet Thing (Sweet Thing, #1) by Renee Carlino at all. Mia is getting on my nerves.
28% (view spoiler) I've found myself doing Spring cleaning tasks instead of reading this book.

So I'm putting it aside for now and starting The Chosen (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #15) by J.R. Ward .

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Anna, I have that book. I have not read it, but have heard that many do not like the heroine. That she maybe looks down on the hero. Makes me hesitant.

message 27: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Bev - how are you getting on with your book???!

message 28: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Amy - haven't heard a peep out of you about Figure Eight...have you had a chance to get into it yet? I'm DYING to hear about it!

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

I promise I will read and finish it soon. Before the month is over. Promise.
I will start this weekend or the begining of next week.

I saw that Michelle rated An Exaltation of Larks as 5 stars... woohoo!

I will be starting my pick for me read (along with several of you as a buddy read!) The Bird and the Sword tomorrow. Thanks Fabi!

Nay (4ukcats) Yay, Michelle!! I'll have to check it out.

I'm ready for tomorrow, Grey!

Oh, and yes Jean, once a month.

4.25 stars for The Bird and the Sword! Thank you so much, Fabi, ( and Ela!)

My review. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Yeah! So glad you liked it Grey.

message 38: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Guess we're getting down to the wire so I better read my April pick. I was going to read it after I read Mia Asher's new release that was supposed to be coming out tomorrow, Love Me in the Dark. But I just looked at the GR page, and some blogger who's a GR librarian changed the release date to May 10. I checked Mia's FB and Twitter, but there's no mention of the date being changed--women on her FB page were just saying '#8 days' a week ago, so I don't know what the deal is. And it was never up for preorder on Amazon either. 😡

message 39: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments And there's a link on FB for giveaways and it states 'spring'
https://www.facebook.com/therockstars...

message 40: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Hmmm--I looked through the comments, and a couple of people mentioned they couldn't wait to read it 'in 3 days' or 'tomorrow' (depending on when their comment was left), and I saw only one person who mentioned they *were* excited about 4/23 but now about 5/10. That's weird that she wouldn't mention it on her FB page. She was one of the ones who posted something about '8 days' on 4/15.

I know firsthand that sometimes you can find an editing snafu, like a huge plot hole that you can't believe you've overlooked after you've read it a hundred times, and that can put you in a tailspin. Maybe something like that happened. Oh well, I'm disappointed, but I'll live! lol

message 41: by Nay (last edited Apr 22, 2017 01:56PM) (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Ohh, I bet I know what happened. Maybe she wasn't going to send out ARC's and then at the last minute decided it would be a good idea. Because that contest that you linked to, Ela, is to win an ARC and it ends on 4/26. May 10 would leave enough time for the ARC's to get read and for reviews to start pouring in. I had noticed that there didn't seem to be much interest generated for the book on GR and her FB page looked pretty dead too. The fans that have been following her on FB who are expecting it tomorrow are going to be really disappointed.

Awesome! I would crown this a success! We still have over a week of April left... And only a few people that have to finish. Amy, Jan, Leslie and Renee... Keep us posted and I will update the original post with your ratings! Thanks for indulging me, LOL!

message 45: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Thank you for organising this Grey. It's a really fun challenge, even if I'm not sure whether I'll finish my book ;)

message 46: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Sorry ive been a deadbeat. I got involved with series I'm trying to finish. I might end up having to push this one to May and double up my "pick for me" books next month. :(

message 47: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Ok, so here's my story...I wanted to be part of BR for The Opposite of You (Opposites Attract, #1) by Rachel Higginson . For some stupid reason, it wasn't available from Nook for me to use my credit. So instead of paying $5 for it in Kindle, I figured why not spend $10 on it and have KU for the month?? So I have bunch of KU books I need to squeeze in before month expires and I cancel my KU.

Book problems... Sheesh! Life is rough for the book nerd.

message 48: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Bev - have you read yours yet??

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Paula wrote: "Bev - have you read yours yet??"

57%, Paula. I will finish it before the month ends.
It's a weird book for me. It didnt take the time to build the H & h relationship even though they have been bfs since grade school. This is a pet peeve of mine, but worse here because they are a bit unlikable. Ok a lot. In one scene the heroine watches another character (view spoiler)
I need the prior relationship to have been built to understand why they love each other even through choices like that.

message 50: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) OJ I'm giving my book another try. More than 60% done now. I hope to finish in the next couple of days. I still don't love it, but I want to see what happens. (Night Owl).
