What are you reading in April 2017?

Hello, what are you reading, right now today? A book, a tv guide or recipe?

I'm reading Dear Amy which is gripping, it's for a meet in real life group and they don't always choose 'good' books.

I'm also listening to Malice; luckily I also have the ebook as the names merge together.

I'm having a hard time choosing what to start next. I have a few options but none of them feel right. I want to read something really good after some disappointing reads. I'm not even sure what genre I'm in the mood for. I think I'll just not even try to pick something today and see how I feel tomorrow.

I've been like that recently, I read two of my March planned books.

I read all of my planned books for March, but I think that's the problem. I read them even though I wasn't in the mood, I'm just a completionist and couldn't leave them. I read 500 pages of something I wasn't enjoying yesterday, because I couldn't imagine not finishing it in March. Fortunately my TBR for April is much smaller and I'm not even going to consider starting any of them now. I need something I really want to read.

I was going to start Specimen Days by Michael Cunningham because a friend said it's her favorite book, but I don't really want to just now. I'm starting to think maybe some fun middle grade fantasy would be just what I need, like some Diana Wynne Jones.

I'm really wanting to start Norse Mythology but there are still two people ahead of me on the list at the library. So, when I finish The Shadow of What Was Lost I'm going to start A Song for Arbonne.

I started Deep Secret. It's not middle grade, but good enough for my brain to feel like it's floating on a fluffy cloud. It's been a while since I read anything new from DWJ and I am trying to read all of her books in the long run.

I just finished Nova. Definitely YA, with a little angst and romance, but a pretty good read.

Now I've started Beyond the Shadows. This is an even bigger chunker than the previous book. xD

Listening to the audio version of The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, reading a PA book Bite that has a bit of a Mad Max vibe and I am slowly working my way through the deluxe hardcover of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind: The Complete Series

I love that movie! Had no idea it existed as a manga but of course it would. X) Adding it on my to-read list.

I'm reading Deadhouse Gates and am listening to And on that Bombshell: Inside the Madness and Genius of Top Gear. It's funny and a must-read for any Top Gear fans. Also reading Drottningkronan which is part of a book series starting during the viking-age and ending in the early Swedish medieval times. The series follows different women in more of less the same family and each book is written by a different (female) author. Pretty interesting.
Going to start on Norse Mythology today as well.

I'm listening to Golden Son and almost done with it, I might listen to another book (probably Catharsis - Awaken Online) before reading the third book in the series. I also started reading Age of Myth which is interesting so far.

I just finished reading Dresden Files #8 Proven Guilty and really enjoyed it. Loving the series. I'm now onto a contemporary mystery Blood Hollow

I'm finally reading The Last Unicorn and wondering why I never read it before - it's enchanting so far.

Finished Blood Hollow. So good. If you like comtemporty mystery the Cork O'Connor series is well worth checking now.

Now onto my first new release this month The Awakening. I've really enjoyed the Graveyard Queen series. It's kinda of sad that it's the final book in the series, but I'm looking forward to having another series completed in my series challenge.

I've just finished reading Sins of Empire. Now, I don't know which book should I read first The Red Knight, Furies of Calderon, or Theft of Swords.

Finished The Wretched of Muirwood. Slow to develop but the second half was much better. I've read that the second book in the series is better so I might continue on with it at some point.

While I'm waiting for a copy of The Summer Tree I'm re-reading The Younger Edda: Also Called Snorre's Edda or the Prose Edda a public domain "go to" source for Norse mythology. Free at Project Gutenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/18947

I read Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman recently. To tell the truth I was a bit disappointed in the book. Perhaps I just had too high of expectations but IMO it was really nothing special. After that, I read Patricia Briggs latest novel in her Mercy Thompson series, Silence Fallen. It was a very good addition to the series and should be a hit with her fans.

I finished the The Last Unicorn - Beagle's prose is poetry. This has catapulted to one of my all-time favorites. I'm glad I finally got around to it.

In other news I've been reading a Discworld book per month starting back in January, so I started #4 today: Mort. At this pace it will take me 4 years to complete all 6 series and the one-off's and the short stories... but it sure is fun.

To be honest, it kind of can be read as a stand alone and the second is suppose to come out this year, maybe. Like all series', they seem to keep pushing back the sequels.

I bought the first in that series a few years back and haven't read it yet...hoping that a few more of the promised 10 books would be published before I got into the story. My Kindle may become obsolete by the time that happens!

Finished "The Rithmatist" last night and really enjoyed the unique magic system. Wouldn't mind continuing on with the second book before I forget what happened in the first.

Picked up my library copy of Arrows of the Queen, which isn't going to win the group read poll but sounded interesting to me as an introduction to Mercedes Lackey.
