Empire is an amazing trilogy especially the first one which has to be one of my all time favourite books

I'd suggest reading both Magician books (or 1 book in some cases) then the Empire trilogy & then other two Rift War books. I think the story works better that way. Less spoilers & better story flow. I really liked the Rift War books, but I think the Empire trilogy is even better.

Oh good. I have the first two riftwar books and empire but haven't bought books 3 and 4 yet.

The first Empire book works relatively well as a standalone -- it overlaps events from the first Riftwar book, but those events are all happening offstage in the background, and if you don't understand all of the specific references, you're not missing much.

The second & third books do tie in more tightly to the original Riftwar trilogy, with one or more (not sure; been a long time since I read them) major Riftwar characters having more time on stage. I don't remember exactly how the timeline crosses over between the two series, but would be shocked if someone hasn't put something together out there.

To me The Empire Series was the best. I was completely shocked at how good it was and was wondering why had I not read this one years ago.

Finished Taste of Darkness to finish the Healer Series. I really enjoyed it. Next I'm going to finish the Powder Mage Trilogy after I work on some of my other challenges.

Finished The Crimson Campaign. What a great story, now on to The Autumn Republic. I'm really loving this series.

There's a following trilogy being published, and according to the reviews, it's as good as Powder Mage :)

I really want to read Powder Mage in 2019. Good to know you're enjoying it :)

Finished The Blood Mirror. Really great story. Can't wait until the last book. Two more and I'll have this challenge completed.

Yes, the Rift War was good but the Empire Trilogy was even better. I wish Janny would write some more for this world.
