Please Combine (some more)
PD+Print of Demand = Mess. The first one was obvious, we use Bonaventure as the author name.
The second is more complicated. Based on
https://archive.org/details/essayonor...
https://archive.org/details/lifeofchr...
https://archive.org/details/eternalho...
https://archive.org/details/historyin...
He wrote as "Frederic W. Farrar". Based on
https://archive.org/details/FW_Farrar...
https://archive.org/details/MN41779uc...
https://archive.org/details/darknessd...
He also wrote as "F.W. Farrar".
But "Life of Christ" was written under the former name. I combined all names except the latter under the former.
I still see at least five works I can't combine:
"The Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ: A Continuous Narrative Collated from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John"
"The Life of Christ as Represented in Art"
"The Life of Christ" (single volume)
"The Life of Christ" (two volumes)
If someone has a spare life they can go on and do more. I think that's as much as I can do.
Yeah it's a mess. Thanks for the work you've done!I think if the search engine was better we would have less of this. Home fully they have something in the works.
There was what - 50? Titles that you combined?
I'm in the process of adding about 24,000 more titles to my good reads account. many are ancient and not yet listed. Its kind of a pain, but I'll be happy when its done. I expect I'll be spending a lot of time posting to these forums. Like the book I put in Add Book this morning. It hasn't been for sale (though you can get it free from a few places) in the last century. Much of the info that one needs is missing. OCLC but no ISBN or ASIN. Even from Worldcat.
I've added books on my own before, but I was struggling to find all the requisite info. Thus the incomplete listing.
https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...Here also - when I see them broken up like this (full volume, then further in the search results vol 1 vol 2 vol 3 and so on). Are the broken up volumes to be treated as different editions and combined or not?
Not. Combine the vol 1 with each other, vol 2 together, and so on, but dont combine partial works with the whole, or different parts with each other.
Krazykiwi wrote: "Not. BUT that keeps me from asking for things to be combined that shouldn't be. might save everyone a little time.
https://www.goodreads.com/search?q=th...These two - A.A. Hodge and Alexander Archibald are they same guy.

https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...This one is a mess too. Looks like there are three volumes, and a three in one. But 7 or 8 entries total.
#29 while most writings of this author are by "Henry Barclay Swete", this specific book has "H.B. Swete" as author.Done
#30 there are many other editions of "Abide in Christ". I'm not sure these are all the same book, but they were already combined so I left them as is.
#31 this one as "W.E. Barnes" https://archive.org/details/apparatus...But also wrote as "William Emery Barnes" and "W. Emery Barnes".
Done
#32 wrote as J.A. Seiss and Joseph A. Seiss, this one as the former.I moved all his works to "J.A. Seiss" for now. This work was published in 3 volumes so we have 4 works.
Done.
https://www.goodreads.com/search?sear...I THINK these are the same, but the different author is throwing me.
Its a VERY specific title. Neither are the book I searched for though.
https://www.goodreads.com/search?sear...Few more. I looked at another of his commentaries and found their may be a need for combination on it as well.
Using calibre, and hit the skip button too quickly though. Will post it when I encounter it again.
https://www.goodreads.com/search?sear...Mine has both authors, with silberman listed first. I think these can be combined.

There may be more... I had a hard time finding it at all, and then found a ton of them.
Another title, similar name, same problem.

How are translations by different individuals handled?
Another Title, same trouble. This time there are apparently at least three different kinds vol 1, vol 2, and a combined volume. In addition to multiple versions of each.

Speaking of the versions written by Jeremiah Jones (et al).
