But if my books aren't retaining my interest, then I'll add another as long as it's a different fictional genre or a nonfiction that lends itself to reading in increments (like a cookbook).
sometimes I only read one book at a time but sometimes I read a few at a time I think it depends on what book I'm reading.
I do I can read up to 4 at a time as long as their different genres
otherwise will get the storylines mixed up.

I usually have three going at once. An audio, a physical book and an ebook. The different formats make it easy to keep the narratives separate, and also to be "reading" pretty much anywhere I have a little time.
I’ve got 4 books going right now. 3 paperbacks and an ebook. Usually 1-2 pique my interest and I pause the others and pick them up less frequently.
Oh yes I most definitely do lol!!! I have ADHD so not only is my mind thinking about more than one thing at once, but I also get distracted easily. I can get a book recommendation on Kindle or think about a book I was supposed to download or buy and just like that I'm reading books.
I start several and if I’m not immediately hooked to a book, I move on. I may or may not go back and finish them all.
Yes, I do. During the pandemic shutdowns, I discovered audiobooks. These days, I listen to audiobooks when I exercise in the morning and read ebooks in the evenings and on weekends.
Yes, because I download a bunch of samples on Kindle and sometimes multiple end up being good. Also, random book recommender if anyones looking for recs. you can talk to it lol: https://www.getproduct.help/books
I used to not read multiple books, but these days I really like it because if one book or two books are not going well, then maybe the third one is. It really helps to balance things out. I'm the type that "has" to finish a book (almost) every time, so if I'm reading a really awful book, this gives me motivation as I can read something else and then come back to it.
Normally, I start a book and finish it very quickly. If I can’t stand it, I just quit. If I think I may get desperate someday and might appreciate it better, I’ll hold onto it. Sometimes an audiobook will not work in some driving situations, or I can’t get locked on. In that case, rather then rewinding over and over, I’ll switch books.
YES!I will always have one audio book going for car rides or doing chores and then one physical book for lounging around
I’m thinking of starting a third book on my phone (e reader) for when I’m out and have done free time but don’t feel it’s appropriate to listen to my audiobook or forgot to bring my physical one.
most of the time if I am reading more than one book they will be of different genre. I like spiritual or christian, history, non fiction and sometimes mystery or thrilers. So, I could go back and forth between them depending on my mood

4 One audiobook while walking or doing housework
One book on Kindle to read in bed as not to wake the hubbie
One hardback or paperback.
One ARC

Guilty! (And here I thought I was the only one.) Currently have my nose in Ashley Bell, Odd Hours, and The Engagement Party.
Wow, how's that even possible, I mean do you ever get confused with different storylines and multiple characters?
I generally have 2 to 4 books going at the same time. (4 currently) Generally, they will all be different genres/sub-genres.
I tend to have numerous things going on at once. One audiobook. I started doing audio years ago when I had to commute to work. 18 miles in an hour and a half. Kept my sanity that way. I work from home now, but when I need a break I go for a walk and listen.
One real book. I can’t fall asleep if I don’t read at night. A habit of many years.
One magazine. Sometimes there are just some great articles that can educate and inform you. I like to travel, write, and short stories, so those subjects I gravitate toward in magazines.
I can read up to 7 at a time. I look at it like TV shows. You watch multiple of them at the same time with no issue. The same applies to books for me.
Always multiple. Partly because I’m a mood reader, partly for convenience. At least one audio, one e-book and one physical book always in motion.Looking for more GR friends as well!

It all depends on who’s accompanying me in the car.
