This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Thanks.

message 4: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments @ Amber, I really liked the looks of Angel Dogs... but I'm a sucker for dog stories
@ Ann I love Stout's books but had rated Now you See Me a half star more, so... Have you read any other Strout books?

message 5: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 85 comments Thanks for the welcome, Amy. I'm excited to participate in this.

@ Ann - I recently read Blood on the Tracks and thoroughly enjoyed it so that got my vote.

message 6: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Well, it IS in the mead for me, Perri.

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments Me too Perri! I'm looking forward to reading it.

and same here, Vicki ;)

message 11: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Tie between Angel Dogs and Microbes and Men. 5 each.

message 12: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis @Perri and Dana That is so funny. My choices are a bit dark this month.
I read Everything, Everything recently and LOVED it. (some lightness to my darkness!) I hope it wins for both of you.

message 13: by Ann (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments It's so close -

message 16: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Never Let You Go has eight votes. The second place, Alexandria Rising, has five votes.

message 17: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Updated my votes for the friends I missed :-))

@Sophie, it may not be your cup of tea, but I was surprised by how much I liked it.
@Ann, I'm very sorry to have caused a tie, but had to vote for one of my faves. Maybe you could get to both next month! ;-)
@Vicki, I literally voted for EVerything, Everything with Perri & Dana because I remembered your enthusiasm when you read it not long ago!
@Veronica, I really like that series for your win. Quite popular with friends here.

message 18: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments I thought My Sister's Grave was sliding in there at the end to steal first but In a Dark, Dark Wood seemed to prevail. Ruth Ware for the win this month, with My Sister's Grave and Lost coming in tied for second. Thanks Ladies! Looks like it will be hardcover instead of a kindle this month.

message 19: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I'm closing my list to votes on Wednesday.

message 20: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1126 comments I've picked books that I had on my Kindle from the Kindle Unlimited store. I got impatient and started reading Blood on the Tracks this month, I'm about 90% through and would definitely recommend. I think my winner is going to be His Kidnapper's Shoes. Sounds different and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm glad you're enjoying Blood on the Tracks, Sophie. I stumbled into that one recently, had no expectations going in as it was a new-to-me-author, and I was pleasantly surprised. As someone who regularly works with veterans who have PTSD I also think the author did a great job at portraying that through Sidney's journal entries at the start of each chapter. I'm looking forward to the second book in October.

I will try to find time to vote....

I am off work, as many of you know.

But Still struggle to find time, always so busy...

As I can see runaway leads are great books.

message 24: by Ann (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments Amy said, 'Ann, I'm very sorry to ...'

no worries, Amy. I shall try to read them both!

Great book! Love it and her follow-up, The Sun Is Also A Star

message 28: by Ann (last edited Mar 29, 2017 11:34PM) (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments Sean, your vote pushed Now You See Me into the lead by one vote and actually, I'd already started Blindsighted !

It doesn't matter, because I'm really enjoying Blindsighted. Should get around to Now You See Me pretty soon :)
Glad they're both so highly recommended.

message 29: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments They were two of my favourites of last year, Ann! Along with Still Alice.

message 30: by Ann (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments Dear PIFMers - thanks to your votes I'm going to have a great month of reading!

message 31: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale You're welcome, Ann.

message 32: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Sean's vote still couldn't catch Everything, but I also want to read Redemption Road if time allows

message 33: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale It happens, Perri.

message 34: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Man and Microbes has arrived.

message 35: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments It would have been my first pick, Perri, if not for all the enthusiasm the last few months for your winner. I'm going to have to get a copy myself. I'd like to read it before the film.

message 38: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis I am just back from a spring break to the Grand Canyon!
Follow You Home Follow You Home by Mark Edwards was my winner by a lot (though I havent updated my threads yet!)
Am looking forward to it!

message 39: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Vicki, isn't' the Grand Canyon, just GRAND?!

Is anyone interested in a buddy read for Everything, Everything?

message 40: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments I will be reading it too Perry, as soon as it comes in from the library, if you would like to discuss!

message 41: by T.W. (new)

T.W. Barton | 4 comments Morning all, while not new to GR or even this group, first time I'm really exploring. So, just a quick question, is this about a certain selection of books or can I just post about my favs so far for the month?

Thanks for any information :-)

Ty

List books that you have been wanting to read, then let the crew here pick the one we suggest you should grab first. I find this useful since I have a TBR list that is overwhelming.

message 43: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I will be reading The Bad Book Affair, have put in a request at the local library.

message 44: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Idlove to, Perri! I may go buy a copy instead of kindle just because it seems everyone loves it. I just finished Salt to the Sea and wished I owned a physical copy. It was so good in the end. Sad and tragic, but great.

message 46: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Have fun with Everything, Everything guys! It's wonderful. Follow it up with The Sun Is Also A Star, it's great too!

message 47: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 85 comments The Girl In The Ice was the overwhelming winner for me. I started it last night so I'm not too far into it yet but it looks promising.

message 48: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Although I am slowly reading my March book I made the mistake of picking up my April read, Never Let You Go by Chevy Stevens . Darn it, I can't put this thing down.

message 49: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Finished Angel Dogs this morning.
