There is so many great books listed, but I have read most of them. Nothing explains WWI like this book. It really showed how this war was so much more about an archduke being assassinated along with a cast of characters from many different areas of the world. I can't think of anything more suitable with the anniversary coming up.

Amy (lakeshorelibrarian) A Thread of Grace
This is an amazing book set in World War II Italy. Different, well-written, and very good for discussion -- and then there's great information about how the author made some of her writing decisions to look forward to when you've finished it.

Stina (stinalyn) | 464 comments I'm sure I'm too late to get any momentum on this one, but I've had Cherie Priest's Dreadnought sitting on my shelf for a while now. It's the second book of the series, but my understanding is that it's quite separate plot-wise from the first book.
