Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments No, it's my pen name. I'm really a Cooper!

message 52: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I'm not even an Amy. Total fraud lol

You chose an EXCELLENT pen name! :-D

message 54: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I thought so!!

message 55: by [deleted user] (new)

Amy wrote: "I thought so!!"

So do we now have to call you "Not the Amy"? LOL

message 56: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Yeah that or just Weird. Either is accurate!

message 57: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Sorry, Amy. I can identify. My week has been crappy, too. (medical) At least you got a sale. I haven't had even one in a while. But, I'll keep working at it. I suck at promoting, that's my problem.

Hopefully, your client list will double next week and the week after. Your article has 31 views on my blog, that's good!

Hugs and good vibes to everyone.

Some weeks are like that Groovy. Sometimes, no matter how much I push, sales are flat. Then you get a burst and it's like spring flowers blooming.

message 59: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Thanks for that, Carole ;)

message 60: by Nat (new)

Nat Kennedy | 153 comments I might be visiting The Netherlands this year. Maybe!

Alex, wow, sucks about the cover thing. I actually am in slightly the same boat... My cover artists that did my first three covers doubled in price and now are booked out till October. I wanted to see about getting a cover for a free short story in the series and now that's not going to happen. Still, if I want more covers for that series, I feel like I need to order now, before their prices triple and they are a year out!

Looking for new artists for my other two series I have planned. Not written, just planned. Crazy.

message 61: by Aislinn (new)

Aislinn Sorry you have to deal with that! Good luck. I hope it's not too awful.

message 62: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Awww Groovy, sorry you're feeling crap. I've had a rough week with a cold and as is customary with chronic fatigue type stuff I'm knackered now. This week will be an exercise in pacing myself to get through things. I am also awful at promoting. I'd pay for something, if I had the money, it's always been my thing to throw money at something. Can't do that yet.

Good luck at the job centre Alex, hope it's better than you expect. What job were you doing before all the anxiety kicked off? I suppose that's one positive thing about being self employed for 16 years, I've not had to contemplate doing what other people want me to so much.

message 63: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Having a bad boss can destroy the entire experience. I was incredibly lucky after my first full time job, I managed to work for some pretty good people.

message 64: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments That's a result. Well done. These things take time. I'm glad they're seen that.

message 65: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Locker I'm not sure how much is too expensive, but I recently found this designer who has a 50% discount running right now, with prices between $40-50 USD, and her (his?) covers are amazing. If I didn't do my own covers with Photoshop, I'd definitely go to this designer. http://www.kbookcovers.com

message 66: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments :) all those naked bodies! They are good covers.

message 67: by Kay (new)

Kay | 414 comments Maybe I'm just childish, but a lot of those titles had me giggling

message 68: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Quite like the idea of Cuffed to the Future, tied to the past. Not literally you understand, but that amused me somewhat!!

message 69: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Although you probably can't beat Seduced and Milked. Great title.

I can write all the sex anyone would want to read, but I wouldn't be able to give it a title like that. I just don't have the balls. (...um... sorry)

My next one is called Nate and Day because I like a pun.

message 70: by Kay (new)

Kay | 414 comments It was 'Stolen By The Billionaire Gorilla' that got me! It took me a while to figure out it was supposed to be about an animal shapeshifter and not an actual wealthy gorilla...

message 71: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I saw that one and wondered about it for a minute until I'd figured it out. It's a unique take on shape shifting. I've never come across the subject being a gorilla before. But then I've not read many shape shifting story lines before. It's usually wolves.

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

Im just waiting for my Kindle Select time to expire, then I will be moving my book over as well. I checked out their website yesterday and it looks way more user ftrendly than Amazon.

message 73: by Erica (new)

Erica Graham (erica_graham) | 1496 comments Mod
So you had to start all over with reviews when you switched to pronoun even though it is the same book???

message 74: by Erica (new)

Erica Graham (erica_graham) | 1496 comments Mod
To be honest, there were a few things that seemed odd to me when I first read it too, then I realized it wasn't American English. I actually looked them up and found out it was just different spellings/grammar rules, not errors. I wish more people would remember that just because rules are true in one culture, it doesn't mean it is done the same in others. I will repost my review for you.

message 75: by Erica (new)

Erica Graham (erica_graham) | 1496 comments Mod
Submitted. Keep your head up Alex. That was just one person's personal opinion. You are a great author! I am very excited to dig into your other books. They are getting close to their turns on my TBR list. :) Good luck with the rest of your promotion too!

It will get buried in an avalanche of positive reviews. Even if he found fault, I think it was cruel to put up a one star review- knowing it would be the first. People like your books, Alex- you'll get some good reviews and it will fall to the bottom.

message 78: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Go look at my reviews- I have quite the collection of crummy reviews.- You know what Alex, If You Were Me and Lived in...India - the first review that shows up is a Vine Voice who gave it one star. This month I sold 22 paperbacks of that book. I don't know how many kindles- I never sell a lot of those in the kids books. I'm happy with that and I think it shows that the one star didn't make a dent. India is one of my top two best-selling books.

message 79: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
You need to read my book one to ten, Alex!! It will all work out. I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and it probably a good one. You'll see.

message 80: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Alex, every night write down in a notebook- I will make a living from my books. My son totally believes in this. He wrote a book about it called Just Ask the Universe- go look at all his reviews on Amazon. I never even promote that book- I don't have to. He believes that if you write good things down they will come true and it has worked for him. Try it.

message 81: by Marie Silk (new)

Marie Silk | 208 comments Holy smokes, that's the longest review I've ever seen! Sorry the first one on the republished book was a negative, Alex :( I hope the good reviews start piling up soon for you!

message 82: by Marie Silk (last edited Mar 31, 2017 06:05PM) (new)

Marie Silk | 208 comments I have a GRRR post about my recent Amazon ad campaign that will hopefully help someone from getting stuck in the same situation. I tried an ad campaign with them last year with unimpressive results. So I tried again with a different kind of ad. It says on the dashboard that metrics might take 3 days to appear. I found out that what this really means is that you can terminate an ad when you're dashboard shows you've spent only $24 but it might show 2 days later that you actually spent $49 on it :(. I didn't get any sales from the ad and spent twice as much as I thought I did. Thus, GRRR.

Now your one star's been balanced. Let's see who they list first. Check the helpful box so it will displace the neg review. I looked at his reviews. He likes to give one stars a lot.

I wonder why mine hasn't shown up yet Alex...

message 85: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Amazon? they are checking it. They do that sometimes and it can take a day or two.

If it's not a verified purchase they are looking to see if you are connected with him. They won't publish both my and Julie's reviews on the same book because we are connected somehow.

message 86: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Mine just went up- but the one star is above me.

message 87: by Erica (new)

Erica Graham (erica_graham) | 1496 comments Mod
I wonder if it because I reviewed the old edition on Amazon before? I have never had a review take this long before, but it did say up to 48 hours.

message 88: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Might be. They've done that to me too.

Sorry about your ad Marie...That is frustrating. Hopefully you got some visibility even though you didn't make a sale. They say it takes someone seeing a book 3 times before they buy.

I get that they are trying to avoid fake and misleading reviews. Unfortunately, it prevents many legit reviews from displaying too...

message 91: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Oh they take down a lot of my legit reviews. I had a review that was up for 24 hours on one of my kids books- I went bonkers on them. It was from a former employee who ranted about me and said nothing about the book. I was able to contact them finally through an email address I had from when they told me they were taking down reviews where I forgot to disclose I got the book for free. It was taken off five minutes after they received that email. hahahh

message 92: by Erica (new)

Erica Graham (erica_graham) | 1496 comments Mod
My review is up now too Alex.

message 93: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Haven't read that one yet Alex. When I have I'll review it. Rest assured it will not be a 1* freaking review. Do people elsewhere still do Mr. And Mrs. Something when writing? Interesting. We haven't done that here in years. And I know people use was instead of were in parts of the country. I'm in a part of the country that uses were more. So much so that I had to edit one out the other week because it should have been was (ooops)

message 94: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
I didn't even notice the grammar issues that guy brought up. I voted up Erica's review so it would stay on top. That guy clearly had an axe to grind- It was like reading a doctoral dissertation.

message 95: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
The review is almost longer than the book.

message 96: by R.L. (new)

R.L. Jackson (authorrljackson) | 856 comments Mod
That guy took his review too seriously. Didn't bother to check the region of the writer before jumping in to do a line by line typo edit? Seriously? I have a word I'd like to say but won't

message 97: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I've voted some reviews up and down accordingly on both sides of the pond.

message 98: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Call them and ask to speak to a manager. Explain what happened and see if they will sort it out.

message 99: by R.L. (new)

R.L. Jackson (authorrljackson) | 856 comments Mod
Oh no! That is ridiculous and I hope they fix the problem. I'm so sorry Alex. And even if that happens alls NOT lost. There is still all the other outlets which may mean a smaller market but could be a blessing because it's not so saturated as well. Praying it all works out for you.

message 100: by R.L. (new)

R.L. Jackson (authorrljackson) | 856 comments Mod
I know but keep in mind some people never deal with Amazon at all and get the same or better results. I'd head over to Draft2digital.com and submit for all the stores and uncheck Amazon. Get your work on all those in the meantime while you work to fix the problem with Amazon. This way you still have your product out there and are still marketing. Don't get discouraged. Read this from one of UKs best and keep your head up Alex. https://www.facebook.com/groups/78149...
