Bren fall in love with the sea. | 323 comments I read it as a school assignment I think. A family is on the run from the Government and they kill the female but her husband and son escape but I think are separated. Do not remember what happened next. Maybe a Novella, was an intense read. At one point when they are on the run they leave their car and start running and that is when the woman is killed and the two males are separated.

Bren fall in love with the sea. | 323 comments Honestly? I do not remember..I think the father was an agent of some sort. I think after he and the son are separated the son is rasied by people who work for the governent. I am not 100 percent on that though. I remember the car and chase scenes very clearly.

Bren fall in love with the sea. | 323 comments Thought of something else. While their being chased, the boy hears the agent say "she's terminated" meaning his mom. This leads me to think this book was Dystopian of some kind. I know the dad survives but son and father are separated and as mentioned it was required reading for school. I read it at least 35 years ago.

``Laurie (laurielynette) Your request made me think of the movie "Running on Empty" starring River Phoenix. The movie had not been adapted from a book but I did find the screenplay from the movie;
Running on Empty: The Screenplay.
Good luck finding your book, it sounds very interesting.

Bren fall in love with the sea. | 323 comments I found this book. It is "I am the Cheese" which I read in school. Just wanted to tell you this one is solved.
