SOLVED. YA Boy dreams of being inside the head of big fish and seeing through its eyes. Similar to "A Light in the Forest". [s]

I read this book between 2006-2008 in a middle school class.

I think the book is set in the Amazon.

The boy is part of a tribe that values DREAMS and interprets them. He has a dream about being inside the HEAD OF A BIG FISH and he can look out the fish's giant eyes and see the world. He has a young girl friend who wants to help him interpret his dream and other people in the tribe encourage him to figure it out.

There are white people colonizing the land that his people are from and that is a whole part of the plot, but I can't remember too well (Similar to "A Light in the Forest"-- a book we also read in this class). He becomes friends with a white man.

The ending is he gets taken up into a HELICOPTER with his white man friend and that's the realization of his dream. Being in the helicopter and looking down at the world is being in the giant fish head and looking out of it's huge eyes.

How do I know this much about a book and can NOT figure out what the title is??! Thanks for the help!
