Paid Promotions - A Case Study of Experience

An OK result for a first run. My understanding is that readers need to see an add 2 or 3 times before they take the plunge.
Thinking about these efforts. They are all setup to service multiple sales channels like Google Nobo nook etc. Perhaps it is time to give serious thought to moving away from KDP as I don't get many kindle unlimited reads.

14 sales in 2 days is not bad at all!
What were the costs of the promo? Where did 14 sales put you in ranking in your sub-genre?

Hope it goes even better!

It provides a nice launch pad for the two BB promos coming up.
$40 USD.
I picked up another sale overnight, so I'll call this one 15 sales.
I would prefer to bunch them closer together to enhance the impact on my ranking which can pull in other readers. But a 4 day separation was the best I could do this time.

Hitting BB again this weekend under thriller genre which is a bigger market.

Your books become a high demand commodity, grabbed like cold water in a desert -:)

At this point in the process I'm not worried about royalties. Just trying to find and connect with readers.

My attitude is that this is like a business and capital has to be injected at the start - or nothing will happen.

i absolutely agree. a business looks for growth in the beginning, not profitability--although one doesn't want to dig oneself too far down into the hole.

In the other side of the process, I have to always improve my craft to produce a better product.

Agreed on this, although it sure helps to have books in a series--advertise for one and you advertise for them all.

I'm very happy to contribute back anything I can.

ASA will be free on Amazon from the 24th to 26th March inclusive.
I've lined up Book Barbarian for an email.
I will use Ask David for twitter.
I will promote for free on goodreads, Facebook and Twitter using my own efforts.
I might do a free booksy if I can get the right dates.

I'm considering ereadernews...would you say it was worth the investment?

BargainBooksy is per month.
I'm still establishing channels.
BTW. Best results are on weekends.

So two paid promos in action at the same time.

Hope this works excellently!

Previous free promos w/o paid advertising resulted in 100 to 150 downloads.
For the investment, I would be looking for 500+.

[1] Reading Deals ($29 USD) for 3 days of website, tweets, and emails.
[2] BookBarbarian ($40 USD) for 1 day of email, facebook and website advertising.
[3] AskDavid (<$10 USD) for a number of tweets to their followers.
20 hours in. 304 downloads. #3 rank in Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Suspense > Paranormal > Vampires for most of today.
Well on track to exceed the 500+ downloads I was aiming for as the BookBarbarian promo hasn't started yet.

Very envious of your Bookbub selection but also very happy for you as it is richly deserved.
Very well done.
Cheers Graeme

We'll have to see how the BookBarbarian promo plays out on Saturday.
I believe (rightly or wrongly) that weekend promos are best.

The BookBarbarian promo kicked in about 9 1/2 hours ago. (on top of the Reading Deals promo)
There are also some tweets by AskDavid and an email from eBookDaily (free).
Results.
Day 1 complete: 400 downloads.
Day 2: 530 downloads (at 2pm Saturday US Pacific Time)
Total downloads 930.

For the benefit of this community and for my own education via record and feedback, I'm relating all my experiences with conducting paid advertising promos for the following books.
I'm running some promos in the near future.
[1] ereadernewstoday on the 24th Feb 2017
[2] Bargain Booksy (Fantasy/Paranormal) on the 28th Feb 2017
[3] Bargain Booksy (Thriller) on the 3rd March 2017
These are all paid advertising promos, and I'll post results as they occur.
