Short story with cover of collection, correct action?

The title of this is "The South" but the cover is for Collected Fictions. Should this be split, combined with "Collected Fictions" and merged? Should the cover be deleted? I can't find an English edition of "The South" in itself.

If you are sure these short stories have not been published separately in English, they should be merged with the collection(s).

In 2016, someone changed the cover of the last one from Collected Fictions to The Secret Miracle, but that is also a collection, not a single short story.

The single stories were added years ago and the most likely culprit is not active anymore.

The cover for "The Secret Miracle" is not a real cover, it is an unprofessionally produced reader-created one, from the cover for Collected Fictions cover. This is a practice which I see the second time today, here is the other one: Cat In The Rain (the original cover is The Short Stories).

Arrrrrgh! Would they have any idea what a nuisance they're being? I flagged the edits of those self-fabricated covers.

This is becoming worse the more I look into it. I started going Borges book by book and almost every story from the 1949 The Aleph and Other Stories (El Aleph) was added as a short story, most of them with the "Collected Fictions" cover or a fabricated cover based on it . This is growing into a small project.

The target will be (in order of preference):
1. Same short story in same language in paper (paperback or hardcover). I don't think we want to add 500 which collected over the years to an Audio CD or one year old ebook, but if you disagree, I will combine with an Audio CD too.

2. Collected Fictions, this specific edition, which is the most common: Collected Fictions

Especially for the editions of The Garden of Forking Paths. I'm not convinced you're doing this properly.

you've grouped together editions of The Garden of Forking Paths with other random short stories from the Collected Fictions or Ficciones, which is a problem because The Garden of Forking Paths is a collection in its own right.

For instance, this is a collection with its own ISBN: El jardín de los senderos que se bifurcan. It's not an individual story.

And even this - The Garden of Forking Paths - should be combined into this individual story: The Garden of Forking Paths rather than the mismatched stories you have it grouped with.

And since that last link I looked at was an audiobook of an individual story, I went looking for more audios of individual stories and found this:

If you scroll down, you can see that there are plenty of short stories from Collected Fictions published with the collection cover even though they're individual stories.

Granted, we can't use Overdrive as a source of data, but this proves that they have been, at one point, published independently.

Melanti, you are correct, but we are already over it. See #12 where I ask Amy for clarification on how we are moving forward.

I can go for a long explanation of why I did what I did but it is redundant since I'm undoing it when Amy verifies the next step.

As for Audios, see #12 too. If we think publication in Audio form also counts as "published independently" I will combine with an Audio. If we don't, I will combine with "Collected Fictions". I'm waiting for answer on #12.

For merge target preference I'd suggest:
1) Most popular English edition of the single story regardless of format
2) Collected Fictions edition matching the cover
3) First English anthology to include story
4) Most popular Spanish edition of the single story regardless of format
5) First Spanish anthology to include story

But you may want to wait for this to be seconded before going ahead with this.
