Rick Brockmeyer | 1 comments Hi, I'm Rick from Maryland.

Throughout most of my life I have been an avid reader. I was a history major in college and have always had an interest there.
Early on, the historical fiction genre became a favorite of mine, with James Michener being the main component. I then gravitated to the horror genre through the lure of Steven King, Peter Straub, and others. Later in life I developed an interest in spy thrillers, which were popular during the Cold War era. After reading 'The Hunt For Red October' I was hooked on Tom Clancy's works.

Over the last twenty years I have concentrated my efforts mostly on thrillers, mysteries and works of true crime. Over this period my favorite authors have been Lee child, Jeffrey Deaver, Steven King and David Baldacci. Most recently, my favorite author (and possibly all-time favorite) has been Greg Iles. I'm currently reading one of his older books, 'The Devil's Punchbowl.' I developed a big interest in his works after a trip to Natchez, Ms. in October, 2015. Since then I have read 'Natchez Burning' and 'The Bone Tree,' both from the Penn Cage series. I am looking forward to reading 'Mississippi Blood' when it come out in March.

I am currently retired, so I have a good deal of time to devote to reading, unlike when I was younger, raising a family and working full time. I joined your group because it seems to be a 'friendly' atmosphere for discussion and encompasses the types of books and authors that I enjoy reading. I look forward to contributing to the group whenever I can.
