Looking for a good Druid series or book. What do you recommend.

I am looking for a good book or series(I prefer series/trilogies), that have a Druid in the main group of character. I've read the Iron Druid series and really enjoyed it. Hoping for something like that or similar to the Drizzit series. Looking more for the fantasy shape shifting Druids then something center on the real druids of Europe if that makes any sense. Look forward to see what people are reading. Thanks.

I was going to say "NOT the Iron Druid series," but since you liked that, I'm at a loss.

Well there's always the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. Not really shapeshifting druids, but they do have druid magic.

Or you could maybe try the Warcraft books. Not sure if the druids are really dominant in these; I always see them more as mostly humans vs orcs.

Difficult . . .
Some Charles de Lint books stray into that area, but it is not the main thrust of his worlds. Try 'Moonheart' - it is towards the end of a series, but can just about do as a standalone.
And there is a book using shapeshifters - Spitting Image by Patrick LeClerc but it is definitely not 'Druids' and is the second in a series that need reading in order.

Moonheart IS a standalone. -_-a Were you thinking of the Newford books?

Not exactly "druids" but the magic in A Song for Arbonne has that sort of earth-mother vibe.

Also not druids, but Faerie Tale is a dark fantasy which really mines the same vein of Celtic mythology.

OK, call it a standalone - and it is a couple of years since I read it, but I seem to remember Tamsin House and Blue the Biker - who are well established characters if you have read at least some of the earlier books, but if you start with Moonheart then they really need more introduction.

Katherine Kurtz wrote the Deryni series. I read some of it many years ago & don't recall swooning over it, but remember it as solid fantasy with druids.

Don't get me wrong, I'm genuinely curious. I checked, and Moonheart was only the second book de Lint ever published. I certainly haven't read everything by him, not by a long sight. If you say Blue and Tamsin House occur in other books, I believe you, but I am still having trouble with the "end of a series" part.

Really? I should have checked more carefully. To me it reads like a follow-on, well after the other books I have read that involved Tamsin House and Blue - but I read them long, long ago, and would need to spend considerable time and effort finding details to back up my memories and impressions.

Red Magic by Jean Rabe is a TSR book with a druid as one of the main characters; I read it years ago and don't recall being too impressed.

Katharine Kerr's Deverry series has a 'sorcerer' who might fit the druid-mould well enough - the books have quite a Celtic feel. The first is Daggerspell.

Not sure the Deryni are Druids. Deryni magic is passed genetically. Terrefic series by the way.
