Hi everyone. I'm looking for a new series to start binge reading. I am a fan of Bleach, One Piece, Saiyuki, and Samurai Deeper Kyo. I've also read Inuyasha, Naruto, and I've watched the animes Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai Champloo, and FLCL to name a few. That should give you an idea of what I like. Any suggestions?

Berserk? =]I'm slowly reading through those. Certainly mature, dark, and greusome, but full of action. Really jumps off the page.

A FAN OF SAIYUKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG YAY!!!!!!!
Lol sorry.... Saiyuki is my favorite and I don't come across many people who have even heard of it, so I'm excited!
Recommendations: Assassination Classroom, Attack on Titan, Blue Exorcist, Black Butler, Soul Eater, Deadman Wonderland, Until Death Do Us Part, Battle Royale, Trigun
I've only read the first volume or first couple, but these seem to fall into the type you listed: JoJo's Bizarre Circus and Shaman King

I've read Assassination Classroom, that was a good series. I tried Attack on Titan, but didn't get past the beginning. Saiyuki was awesome. I've read all of the first series and Saiyuki Reload. I found the first few chapters of the third series and a prequel online, but then I heard the author had a heart attack and was taking time off. I never saw any more after that.

Oh no!!!! Poor Minekura-sama!! I hope she's doing alright.
I haven't read past Reload. I have been hoping and hoping another company would pick it up, but no luck :'( I acquired Reload 10 from a friend who was working in Japan at the time, and then had my best friend who speaks Japanese fluently translate it for me. And I just recently found out about the Saiyuki Gaiden OVA and when I found out the original English voice cast did the dub, I cried tears of joy.
Saiyuki is my jam, so I will happily discuss it anytime!! Lol

These are in my top 10 manga list:BIOMEGA バイオメガ 1
Sci-fi - in spite of the fact that transitions can be vague or confusing, the innovative story line and kickass action make this manga top notch.

Claymore, Vol. 1: Silver-eyed Slayer
Fantasy - although one reviewer said that the character illustrations were ugly (and I can kind of understand that), the story line is really complex and original.

Naoki Urasawa's Monster, Volume 1: Herr Dr. Tenma
Suspense - excellent story.

Gotta love a badass cyborg girl! Its film adaptation is supposed to come out in the summer of next year, 2018. This manga might make it into my top ten.
Battle Angel Alita, Volume 02: Tears of an Angel

I've read Claymore, that was good and I wish they did a spin off about the war they mentioned with the other kingdom.I've also read Alita. I like Last Order more and I want to read the third series.
I haven't read Biomega, but I did read Blame! and it looks like the same author. I'll have to check that one out, thanks Alex.
Miss Ryoko, I looked up about Saiyuki. The new series was titled Saiyuki Reload Blast. It started in 2010 and right after Minekura went to the hospital. I was wrong, Minekura didn't have a heart attack, it was a surgery to remove a tumor from her jaw. Apparently the surgery went okay and she returned home. A couple of chapters of Blast were published in Zero Sum, I'm not sure, but one site says that was in 2014. There hasn't been anything new since then.
But, I saw something on Minekura's site (it appears that she's still alive). I can't read Japanese, so I don't know what this says, but its the gang from Saiyuki.

Yup, I knew it was called Saiyuki Reload Blast. I saw some of her promo images for it. Made me so sad and depressed that I couldn't read it :-p
Also, I second the Monster recommendation

Also, I second the Monster recommendation
Third on Monster and the world needs more Alita/Gally.Also Fairy Tail for tales about strong family bonds like in One Piece but with a guild of wizards taking on jobs and ultimately saving the world in one way or another. :)
I will definitely check out Monster. Berserk looks interesting, too. I had forgotten about Fairy Tail, I saw part of the anime, but never got a chance to see more. And yes, we need more Alita. I want to see what she does on Mars.

Last Order she gets some good flashbacks. :)
They have three volumes of Gunnm: Mars Chronicles in Japan. I'm just waiting for it to get released in the States.

I was wondering if anyone here uses mangapanda.com for reading manga online. And I was also wondering if you to pay in order to use it. Thank you!

I'm surprised no one has suggested Tokyo Ghoul, yet! First there's Tokyo Ghoul and then Tokyo Ghoul:re which is a continuation of Tokyo Ghoul and still ongoing. The anime is also excellent! If you've already read Tokyo Ghoul but still enjoy thrillers,
Supernatural:
- Ghost Hunt
- Akumu no Sumu Ie (continuation of Ghost Hunt)
Psychological:
- Enigma
- Psycho Pass
- Uzumaki
I also recommend Skip Beat if you want a feel-good dramatic comedy sort of thing.
Also, another excellent anime/manga is Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. I recommend watching the anime first before trying to figure which order the manga series go through, because there are multiple manga series that are essentially sequels to the first series, from which the anime is drawn from.
I can offer more suggestions, but these are the ones on the top of my head.
And another note about mangapanda: it's free. It's also essentially the same content as mangareader.net, but to each their own I guess.

Mike, off topic, but I have to ask... is your icon pic Monster in the Darkness from Order of the Stick?

LOL I thought it was an extreme close up of a black mage from Final Fantasy. :)

Nice. Things get pretty crazy in that book...
Ok, let's stop here to prevent further derailing of this thread. If anyone would like to continue talking about OotS feel free to message me!

I found a trio of books I thought I would mention about a young Korean girl growing up in the late 19th century in manwa form. These books have a fantastic art style but also include things like puberty, the evolution of crushes to more longing love, and a view into a male dominated society. So if you are ready for a slice of life from the past then why not try these books? :)
