A Court of Thorns and Roses question

The key to winning the last trial is Feyre figuring out about Tamlim's stone heart. However, if Tamlim and Lucien were trying to make her realize that, and this would be why Alis said "Listen to what you hear", that would also mean they expected everything that happened and lead to Feyre being taken and goin through the trial, which doesn't make much sense to me.

Any clarifications? :/
