The story was presented from the points of view of the search group, those remaining behind and Shiloh. How effectively did the author connect the scenes in terms of timing and pace?

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I thought the movements back and forth between Cork and the group trying to survive and Jo's involvement in piecing things together on the home front was done well. Usually I'm more attached to one POV over others and get annoyed when the stories veers away from it, but this time I was equally absorbed in everything.

I loved the format. He moved the story along perfectly using the multiple narratives. Showed some real writing chops. Every time I got one perspective and wondered what was going on in another, he transitioned in that moment. It was perfectly paced.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I agree. Oh, and I forgot to mention Shiloh's POV!

Angela | 155 comments I loved the pacing. It keep us involved in all angles of the story and I always felt the tension as events quickly unfolded. I really enjoyed how Jo had such a large part in the book.

It was nice to have Jo be such a critical part of the story as I wasn't left with a favorable impression of her after the first book.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I had somewhat warmed towards Jo by the end of the first book. She overcame her fear and came through to save Cork and Henry. She just built on that for me in this book. The O'Connor marriage, for whatever reason, started to fall apart and both Jo and Cork failed to fight for it.

I think it helped the story's flow going back and forth.
