Wow guys. It's only Day Two since this group has started and we've already hit 24 members. *gives a hug to everyone* Thank you so much for joining everyone! ^.^

What made it so much fun?
Not too bad. Listening to music after school's over is always a great while I go on goodreads as well. ^.^ And also scouting for photo references.

That's fun! I'm chillaxin' in my room half reading my history assignment while I paint.
Oh wow! That sounds fun! >.< Main reason for Valentine's existing at all: chocolate!
Haha! I wish I was drawing and half-doing my school work. >.<
What music genres are you usually into?

I don't really listen to a specific genre. I listen to whatever sounds pleasant to my ears at that moment. Currently I'm playing Death of a Bachelor by Panic! At the Disco and Believer by Imagine Dragons on repeat.

*but now it's finished and I can get back to trying to post a drawing a day*

No question is ever stupid Maggie! I've tried this one it always works for me.

Let me know if it works for you! If it doesn't, by the comment box, in green lettering there is (some HTML is ok). If the way I showed you doesn't work, click on the green lettering and it will show you how to do it as well,

I'm curious. Has anyone drawn using their iPad? If so, do you use some sort of pencil-like-pen to draw? I'm thinking of drawing on a tablet that's why. Also: do you use certain apps for drawing?

I only have four days of school each week. Which is probably why Wednesday is 'until four' day.

Yeah, I do pretty much all my art digitally, except when my art teacher requires a specific medium, or If I'm just doing sketches.
I use ArtStudio for IPad, on an IPad. (obviously) If you have a non-apple tablet or smartphone, I've heard AutoDesk is pretty similar. Styluses for a phone/tablet are pretty easy to get ahold of, and are pretty cheap, (unless you get like an Apple Pencil or something)
You can also make
If you want to draw with a computer, you pretty much need to get a graphics tablet and hook it up, unless yo want to draw with mouse or trackpad which I don't recommend. (Trust me. I've tried both. Not only will it not look good, but you will probably also injure your wrist.)
This is pretty much the best setup for digital that I know of for someone who's not willing to invest in a professional tablet, although I've heard it takes a little getting used too. It gives you pressure sensitivity, and computers are much better at handling bigger files (meaning you can draw in higher resolution) The two best programs for drawing are Photoshop and PaintTool Sai. If you want something affordable, FireAlpaca and Krita are both free and widely used/recommended.
Anyway, digital is my favorite medium for a lot of reasons, and I highly recommend getting into it. The learning curb can be a little steep, but it grants you SO many capabilities.
1. It helps you end up with much cleaner pieces. It's basically IMPOSSIBLE to accidentally spill paint on/smudge/crumple your drawing.
2. The undo button and eraser.
3. Layers!
4. Cutting and pasting, moving and resizing, and copying. (Ever draw that one PERFECT HAND that just happened to be twice the size you'd intended? NEVER AGAIN!!!)
5. Color! OH THE BEAUTIFUL COLOR! While pretty much any set of pencils/paints/markers comes with a limited palette of colors, in digital, you can get literally every single color there is.
Besides that, you can alter colors you've already put in really easily, which can be very helpful for getting harmonious color schemes.
6. It looks pretty on a computer!
Anyway, hope this helps.
One last thing, if you do decide you want to get into digital, be sure to learn how to use your program! There are a billion tutorials out there, and it will help you SO MUCH.

I went through a phase once were I was trying to learn to draw boys, and I spent almost an entire month drawing nothing but Tam...
What program did you get?
Boys are difficult for me though. :/ I never can turn them it right and they turn up looking like girls in the end. :-(
Haven't gotten a program yet. : )

I want to be better at drawing, obviously, but I'm not really interested in doing it as a career some day. It's my happy, procrastination thing for when my brain is too broken to do other things.
The thing that I really want to be able to do is really good fanart. I love being able to take a book character and put them onto paper/an Ipad screen, and have it ACTUALLY look like them.
What's yours?
Me too. I was thinking of starting the monthly competitions again. So maybe that would do it, either that or the challenges. :-)
^ My situation right now. For the drawing slump, I always find that drawing with the help of references is a good place to start as well as just drawing the first thing I see (don't really do this often but it does happen!)
As for the reading slump, need any good recs? ^.^
