the 2nd book is a "sequel" for the classic Dracula book written more than 100 years later

Phew...
Edit: the manual says edition field would be appropriate...posts in the forum often refer to the publisher field..
(I would have chosen the edition field spontaneously but have doubts after rereading the forum posts)

Phew..."
You can post it in the Looking for a Project? thread if you're not up for it :)
ETA Oh sorry, missed what you wrote about the field. Collections (such as this) go in the edition field (but I see you already started :) )
#3 Definitely not! ETA I deleted this one.

thank you for deleting #3

Just out of curiosity, I do not see anything in the Librarian Manual about sequels written by others being a 'definite no' for series.
Is there a stated policy somewhere? Should the James Bond series be dismantled - all those books written by others who are not Ian Fleming? Does it matter if some of the books were not specifically 'authorized' by the rights holders (Like that Kingsley Amis one (Colonel Sun)); and some were authorized?
If 'authorized' matters, should 'Rhett Butler's People' then be added as a series with Gone with the Wind? That was authorized by the estate. I'm not sure if Scarlet was authorized or not.
'To be a series, books should have characters and/or universes in common.'

James Bond was already a series. Dracula is a stand-alone book. If a distant relative decides over a century later to write a "sequel", I would call it 1) piggybacking on their ancestors fame, and 2) a parallel novel or retelling.
Jean Rhys's Wide Sargasso Sea can be called a "prequel" to Jane Eyre, but that doesn't mean a series should be created for it.

Using the same logic, already a series, that allows 'Colonel Sun' to be on the James Bond list, should have that Greek book published in 1913 be on the Sherlock Holmes list.
Mind you, I'm not trying to find a way to include such things as that Greek book with the Holmes books, or the 'Gone with the Wind' with its sequels, or any of the Jane Austen sequels with their 'inspiration' (the sequels/continuation books, not the monster ones - her book page is a mess now because of those books, since they include her name as co-author). Just trying to figure out where the line is drawn.
Colonel Sun, I've now determined, was actually authorized by the rights holders. I was wrong about that. (I've a vague memory of reading the book and seeing something by the author about how they just had to write it, you know, in a published fanfiction kind of way, . . . but looking the book up just now showed me that the rights holders authorized the book).
So I suppose it's 'already a series' and 'authorized' that makes a 'continuation' book a part of the series?

I'll leave the rest of the books you mention for someone else to answer. I'm not familiar with those series.

in order to connect 2 or more books without necessarily creating a series, there is also the possibility of using the "characters" section

Don't think so, the Karl May books do belong to serieses(es...) but this is just listing a certain edition of his books (and not all of the books in that list are from that edition).
But I do not know enough about Karl May's canon to tell how those books belong together (most do feature recurring characters as I know, and such would belong in one series).

No, not a series according to GR. It is for these dark blue Dutch editions: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
I'm happy to work on them before the series is deleted; covers have a watermark from not acceptable source, missing all other info, maybe need combining. Working on them will be easier with the series still attached. I will delete the series once i have updated the editions.

Of course I can take the easy way and only add the 'series' information to the edition field for those editions. The problem is that I always see other things that need fixing, already spotted two duplicates.

Moved the 'series' information to the edition field for the specific editions and deleted the series.
Also deleted another Karl May series that is not a series. And deleted two series in translation and added their names to the description of the valid German series.
