The dad is just an asshole and resort to violence. Til i found out that all Tella wanted was Scarlett to dream again instead of marrying a guy who she don't know (thinking he is a gentleman via the letters written) and get out of everything. I mean i don't really trust him but clearly you can't do thinks on your own yet. Ended ch 16 with a cliffhanger. damn it. I need to continue this asap. I hope Julian is actually ok.. He's growing on me. I was really hoping Dante and Scarlett would go on a dinner date though.. Oh and Scarlett going all about marrying a guy who she just met. She's really a pain in the ass.. About to finish chapter 14 but I just wanna say nothing interesting has happened so far. I don't quite like the writing. It's too glittery, like it's covering up for the uninteresting events that have happened so far. Oh, I liked the strange tiny animals in the tree, on castle Castillo. Chapter 15 and 16. I agree (view spoiler)[Nigel's way of reading people through their attraction to his tattoos was pretty interesting. Liked the dragon chasing mermaid tattoo on his stomach (lol, I thought the mermaid would've been a clue for Tella). I am not surprised that the count is not a good person. He is too mysterious to be trusted anyway. And Julian's argument against him seemed fair.
I don't think telling the perfume lady her secret was a good idea, Julian had warned her (oddly, I don't like or even trust Julian all that much, but I do trust his knowledge. The spray the lady used on Scarlett must have been to lure her to buy sth from her shop. I am interested to see how this mistake of Scarlett's telling away her greatest fear works against her in the future.
Also, I had guessed her negative thoughts would have been coming from the fountain.

The castillo underground was creepy. I felt positive Julian was there. Maybe he is (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 17 - 19. (view spoiler)[ that was really heroic what Julian did. So considerate of him to bring Scarlett's earrings back. He is acting all mysterious again, though. I wonder what actually happened. I hadn't expected for him to come back from under Castillo that easily...I had thought he was an illusion, lol. I wonder more than ever now what his motive to come back to Caraval really is. He won't say.
The world going black and white was quite interesting. I wonder what the carousel and the caravat being colour meant. I feel like Scarlett goes too much with the flow, either doing what people say or letting things just happen, most times. She let the man in the caravat go and the carousel dissolve so easily, to make her choices narrow. She wants others to choose for her. Not the first time I've found her being awfully indecisive.
Of course the lady would take two days of her life at Caraval. I could see that coming. I wonder what Scarlett really wants more than finding Tella...please let it not be love or finding Julian or some other stupid shiz (hide spoiler)]

So her grandma was an important part of Caraval history. And of course Julian would be Legend *eyeroll* because he cared for her as much as Legend (hide spoiler)]

Ch 17 - End :

So after reading chapter 16, i've put on whole as I had to read another book finish. And once i'm done i picked up caraval again and read finish the book in one sitting. Didn't think it was possible. Partially forgot there's a buddy read going on , on goodreads . Only remembered it somewhere near the epilogue. LOL.

My thoughts. Before the epilogue(view spoiler)[ I was like Scarlett I swear. I was like wtf just happen. You died but you're alive. Characters were just actors in the game . So what was real and fake? but I definitely was shipping Julian and Scarlett the whole time. At least they did have a happy ending.

I was hating Tella, like girl can you please believe your sister. WTH where you doing you delusional [ til i realize i was the delusional one . LOL ] Since she plan this with Legend.

I actually did hate on Scarlett like all she cared was her wedding even after meeting the count. Like stupid girl can you not. I felt sorry for Julian then. [ i swear it was wedding > her sister ] .

I did thought Julian was either Scarlett's fiance (wishful thinking) / the legend. But in the end he was the brother of legend. oh wells.

I kind of did enjoy the book some way or another if not I wouldn't have finished it in one sitting for the rest of the book. (hide spoiler)]

So I've gotten to chapter 10. This book is so fun! I'm really geting lost in Caraval with Scarlett through the descriptions. Scarlett's love for her sister is just so pure I love it. It's clear that Scarlett doesn't like the color purple. (Aw it's one of my favorites.) She associates it with her father, and he's the worst thing in her life. I love the color symbolism!
